My mother never ever read to me or my sister, although I'm sure she'll deny that. I honestly don't think I knew what a book was until I went to school. I remember being asked to read out loud and having a hard time because I didn't know how to pronounce the words. The kids were laughing at me for it too. I hated it. Once I found out what the Babysitter's Club was, I asked for those and some R.L. Stein books, but I was much older by then and wouldn't consider them my favorite books from childhood. Oh well. It's in the past and I'm making up for it now with all the books I can get my hands on. I also make sure I read to my kids every night.

Looking forward to Sweet Revenge and I love the colors chosen for that book!Taryn @MySecretRomancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02933092256799671294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3779923555333795934.post-7174706214988269382011-10-01T18:47:53.824-05:002011-10-01T18:47:53.824-05:00Anne, no it wasn't the VC Andrews books (altho...Anne, no it wasn't the VC Andrews books (although I did read those as a teen now that you mention them. Flowers in the Attic I think was the first one). The book I was thinking of was for younger kids, maybe ~10 years old. I wish I could remember more about it, but I remember LOVING it. I remember enjoying many of them.

Another one I didn't mention that I read when I was in my early teens was The Rolling Years by Agnes Sligh Turnbull.
