Recommend Monday!

Good Monday Everyone and Happy Memorial Day!

How was your weekend? Are you planning any special Memorial Day fun? Picnics, parades or just a lovely quiet day with a good book?

Remember last week when I mentioned that I needed to cut some pages from MIDNIGHT SECRETS. And you guys were so kind to encourage me not to cut any? Well, I took that to heart and have now added about ten more pages. Heavens! This book is going to be a whopper. However, it's so fun and I'm really enjoying stretching my creative muscle in a different direction.

Though MIDNIGHT SECRETS is a definite change from Last Chance Rescue (More on this later), the hero, Zach Tanner, is every bit as tough and sexy as any LCR hero. He's a former Army Ranger who's now the sheriff of his hometown. He's turned into one of my very favorite heroes! And wow oh wow, my publisher sent me a sneak peak at the cover they're working on. You'll definitely sigh when you see it. Can't wait for the big cover reveal. That's always one of my favorite things about a new book.

And speaking of Last Chance Rescue, I was thrilled to learn that SWEET JUSTICE is a finalist in the RWA Kiss of Death Daphne de Maurier contest for Single Title Romantic Mystery/Suspense. What an honor! Winners will be announced at the RWA conference in July.

Since I've been hitting the revisions hard this week, no new recommends for me. However, I'm keeping a list of all your recommends so when I'm through I can dive into some great reads. And no movie recommends either. I thought we were going to see a movie for hubby's birthday but we ran out of time. I'm hoping we can see one soon...there are so many good ones out now. Snow White and the Huntsman starts here this weekend and looks awesome.

So that's it for me. Sorry I can't respond to all the comments right now. Thank you for your patience!

Can't wait to see your books and/or movie recommendations.

Have a fabulous holiday and a wonderful week!

Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

How was your weekend? See any great movies? Read any fabulous books? If so, this is the place to be. Share with us!

My weekend was dedicated to MIDNIGHT SECRETS. My plan was to do some major cutting since the word count is running quite long. Instead, I added about 20 pages! LOL So it's back to surgery again this week.

As for a recommend, I'm in the middle of Lightning That Lingers by Sharon and Tom Curtis, which I'm really enjoying. It's an older Love Swept that was recently released as an eBook. It came highly recommended by many of my friends who claim it was one of their favorite romances. So of course I had to get it. And at $2.99, how could I not? Though it's a bit dated, I'm loving the writing and storyline. How can you go wrong with a male stripper and a small town librarian? Their first 'date' together was so sweet and magical...I can't wait to read more!

Also, though I haven't seen a movie in a theater in months, hubby's birthday is this week, so I think we're going to see Battleship. I'm hearing good things!

So that's my past, present and future in a nutshell! What about you? Books, movies, life? Share and have a good time. I'm headed back to my writing cave, machete in hand. (:

Have a great week everyone!

Recommend Monday

Good Monday All!

Happy (belated) Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there! I hope your day turned out just the way you wanted.

How was last week and the weekend for you? Did you do anything fun? Read anything fantastic? See any great movies? Please share!

My week was absolutely spectacular. As you know, Zach, Savannah and I went away together to hammer out some details and get to the end of their story. And I'm pleased to announce that we did! Yippee! My first draft manuscripts are always beautiful messes, full of plot holes big enough to drive a semi through, enough loose threads to knit a sweater, and so much head hopping it could cause an epidemic of migraines. I always go through my first draft with a notepad beside me and a "What in the world was I thinking?" kind of feeling. LOL This is the fun part!

Other than all those things I need to do to fix it into a readable book, I am very pleased with the outcome. Savannah and Zach are both flawed individuals, but turned out stronger and much more endearing than I anticipated. I adore them. And Zach? Well, let's just say that small town sheriffs can be seriously HOT! (:

Oh, and I have an official title! MIDNIGHT SECRETS will the first book. Yay!!! The title fits the story perfectly, which is always a good thing.

In between writing, I did manage to finish up Fifty Shades Freed which I really enjoyed. With all the controversy and so many people either hating or loving the books, getting sucked into this trilogy and enjoying it was the last thing I expected. However, I became attached to the characters and I'm so glad I read all three books. I also read and enjoyed Eloisa James' When Beauty Tamed the Beast. The hero was based on Gregory House from the TV show House and had quite a few laugh out loud moments.

This week, and the next few weeks, I'll be editing MIDNIGHT SECRETS. Deadline is looming and that always makes for some harrowing days of hair pulling, nail biting, chocolate consuming and wine drinking. Let the good times roll! (:

What about you? Read anything fabulous? And movie-wise, see anything spectacular? I've heard The Avengers is great and that Dark Shadows was a bust. I'll still see Dark Shadows, simply because that was my favorite TV show years ago and well, I adore Johnny Depp.

I'll be holed up in my writing cave again this week, so forgive my lack of response to your posts. I am reading them and sincerely appreciate all the great recommends. I always get excited when I see a book not on my list. So please keep them coming. Though we only get between 12 - 20 comments each time, the post get's between 150 - 200 views, making Monday the most viewed day. Not everyone comments but please know that you are helping lots of people out there find great books. A great service to all romance readers!

Have a wonderful week everyone. Happy reading and/or movie watching!

Recommend Monday and Winner of B'day Giveaway

Good Monday Everyone!

With the summer almost upon us, I thought we could add a little something extra to Recommend Monday. When I was a kid, summer meant seeing lots more movies. I still get excited to go see a movie and when the big blockbusters are advertised, it's such a thrill. So not only are we recommending great books for everyone to read, but great movies too. And while most of us see a whole less movies than we read books, it'll be great fun if you've seen a movie you loved and want to recommend it here.

So, with that said: How was your weekend? Did you see any great movies and/or read any great books? If so, please share with us!

Last week was a busy but fabulous week. Birthdays, even at my age, are still fun to me. And two lovely ladies made it even more special with a gorgeous Alabama basket filled with lots of delicious goodies.

Thank you all so very much for the lovely birthday wishes both here and on my Facebook page. I will once again repeat that I have the nicest, kindest readers in the world! (:

My weekend was super busy, too, and oh so much fun. Saturday was the Heart of Dixie Readers Luncheon in Huntsville. I so enjoyed seeing some of my readers who I've gotten to know from year to year and loved meeting new readers. I had one young lady introduce herself, saying she wanted to read some of the authors who were coming to the luncheon, so she and her friend purchased a couple of my books and so loved them, they went out and bought five more the next day. An author can't ask for a nicer compliment than that. LOL Yes, she made me cry but I know you're not surprised by that.

Then, two very special friends surprised me with a little birthday party, cake, sign and wonderfully thoughtful gifts. We went to the Olive Garden for dinner and had a blast. Then we stayed up till the wee hours giggling like teenagers. It was a lovely way to top off my birthday week.

As I mentioned last week, May is deadline month for Zach and Savannah. Sigh, no, I still don't have an official title. Until I do, we'll continue to refer to it as Zach and Savannah's book. They were incredibly cooperative last week. This week, I'm heading to an undisclosed location for some intense alone time with these two wonderful characters. Fingers crossed they open up even more.

As for recommends, I haven't been to a theater in a while, so have no movies to recommend today. I'm hoping to change that as soon as I meet my deadline. As for books, I'm still in the midst of reading the Fifty Shades trilogy. I'm on the third book, Fifty Shades Freed. And while I enjoyed the first one, the second one wasn't all I wanted it to be, however, Fifty Shades Freed has been an entertaining read. I'm in the middle of it and hope to finish it soon. I admit, in between the craziness, I've grown quite fond of both Christian and Ana.

And now, for the giveaway announcement. Since I love giveaways and there was such a good response, I decided name two winners and they are: jbiggar and Michele (Chelleyreads). Congratulations ladies, I'll email you for your mailing address.

Okay, that's it for me. I'm heading to the writing cave. I hope you have a fabulous week. Can't wait to see what books and movies you're recommending today!
