Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

For those of us in the United States, Happy Memorial Day! And to the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces thank you for your service! For those who are serving now, thank you for your service! May God bless you and your efforts and bring you home safely!

So what's everyone doing today? Any BBQs or picnics planned? Did you do anything fabulously fun over the weekend? If so, share! Since I'm on deadline, I'm living vicariously through others, so anything exciting that's happened, I'd love to hear about.

I'm in the midst of finishing up the first draft of SWEET REVENGE. I do have to say that I love these characters. I know...I know, after all the difficulty they've given me, you're surprised. However, lately they've been extremely cooperative (I think they sense a happy ending ahead) and even the Quiet Man himself did something so SWEET the other day, he made me cry. LOL. Imagine that!

I'll be offline most of the day writing but will check back in from time to time. And later on this week, I'll be giving away some books. I found some extras I didn't remember having, so if there's one in particular you've been wanting, stay tuned--you might get the CHANCE to snag it!

Okay, that's it for me. What about your great reads last week? What fabulous book(s) are you dying to recommend to us?

Have a fabulous day everyone!

Happy Memorial Day, Christy! Glad to know the characters are finally cooperating. And as for you crying... I'm well and truly shocked. LOL
I read Karen Rose's Silent Scream and Joyce Lamb's Relative Strangers. I've started a couple of others, but these two were so good, everything else was put on hold! Right now, I'm reading Susan Mallery's Chasing Perfect and trying to decide what else to jump into. Thanks to a GC to BAM (thank you again), I have a few new releases to choose from.
As for plans today, just getting ready for another school week. We did have some fun over the weekend. Took the boys to a multi band concert, which finished off with Kris Allen. It was outside and so fun! Also took my younger one to see the new Shrek movie.
Three more days of school and then... SUMMER!
Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all the men and women who serve our country.

Last week I read Beverly Barton "Worth Dying For", Susan Mallery "Chasing Perfect", and Rachel Gibson "Nothing But Trouble". I really enjoyed Chasing Perfect and Nothing But Trouble. Worth Dying For wasn't bad, just really predictable.

We spent yesterday at the outlet mall and a barbeque with friends and today will be prepping for the busy week ahead and probably a dip in the pool. We have multiple days of dance pictures and the Taylor Swift concert. Just finished the super fun chore of getting the bills paid.

Glad to hear Dylan is doing better...hopefully, it will stay that way! Can't wait for the book!

Don't forget today is the last day for the Brenda Novak auction!!

Hi All
Kara, glad you mentioned Joyce Lamb. Her new book True Vision releases tomorrow. I got mine already. I was just going to check it out & read the first couple of pages. Not. Couldn't put it down.
Be back later to remind everyone about the True Vision bookmarks.

Hey Christy. I am currently reading Liza Palmer's A Field Guide To Burying Your Parents. Just reading the title hooked me. It is really a good read. Just like all her books.

I just finished reading a fabulous book called No Chance by Christy Reece (guess you know her? :)). I might just have managed to come out of my major major book slump. I finally finished Victoria Dahl's Lead Me On and was in a perfect mood for No Chance. So I started reading and couldn't put it down. Made us late for a party Saturday night and Sunday thanked God I didn't have the usual 20 shorts to iron so i could get straight back to it.

I had been reticent about starting No Chance because I knew i would contain flaskbacks and i do not do well with long flashbacks. They slow the story down for me. The ones in No Chance are short and really flowing - just perfect. Loved both Gabe and Skylar. Met McKenna and now really eager to get to her book.

Started on Second Chance just now but had to put it down because my husband and kids have to eat i guess. Plus i have a proofreading job to get done too. So i might not have time to get back to it today. But I was really looking forward to Cole's story since Run to Me. Haven't met Dylan yet but eager to since you are currently writing his book.

Happy Memorial Day all...I stuck on that being an oxymoron...How can death be happy? lol...Sorry I had to mention that...It has been on my mind all weekend.

Now to my reading...I just pre-ordered Alex Kava's new book. Now I have to hope Black Friday comes out in paperback so I can read the books in order. Also ordered Nora Roberts and Lisa Gardner's new books. I will be stalking the mailman until i get those books in my grubby little hands.

The weekend has been ok. Had a picnic with my sister and her new husband last night. Got my Olive Garden fix on Saturday and tonight my honey is grilling steaks tonight.

My read for the week is NO CHANCE. I put off starting them until I had all three then when I got the last one I was reading another book. I can't read multiple books at the same time. (Short attention span i guess). As you all know NO CHANCE is a SWEET book but I am ready to kill the evil Victor myself. I can't wait to read about his demise. I hope it is long and very very painful. lol.

Happy reading all!

Hi Again
I finished Never Too Hot by Bella Andre - awesome read. Some parts reda more than once.

Read Sugar Creek by Toni Blake - another hot sexy funny read with a grandmother & trash talk between the H & H that you'll love.

Was reading a perfectly good book when I happened to thumb through True Vision by Joyce Lamb & now I can't put it down.

Just a reminder: If you buy True Vision by Joyce Lamb- email me a copy of your proof of purchase & I'll send you a True Vision bookmark.

Mary G-
I just started Never Too Hot today. Only a few chapters in and I'm loving it. I keep hearing about the Joyce Lamb, so I'm definitely going to check it out!

Hi Krisgils
There's a line in there towards that end that blew me away. I'd love to know what you think when you're done.

Whew! Sorry I'm so late posting but I do have to announce that: (drum roll please)

I finished the first draft of SWEET REVENGE!!!!!

Woohoo! Dylan and Jamie really came through for me and I am so proud of both of them. They are wonderful characters with so much depth and well...character. I love them and have totally forgiven them for not talking to me for months. I can't wait to introduce you to them!

I've got to go answer a few calls. Will be back to chat in a few!

krisgils33 said...

yay! just read that over on FB. so excited for you (oh yeah, and me too cuz soon I'll get to read it!!). guess I really should get off the blogs and FB and get some work done today.

Kara, looks like you had some grand reads last week. I'm so glad you found some good ones with your gift card! And wow, what a great weekend you had with a Kris Allen concert, a new Shrek movie and the anticipation of only three more days left of school. Come on summer!

Kris, wow, you got lots of reading done last week too. I've been hearing great things about Susan Mallery's Chasing Perfect. I don't read a lot of contemporary romance, but I believe I'm going to have to read that one. Sounds really good. And what a busy week you have planned. Have fun!

Hey Mary, I'm going out today and will look for Joyce Lamb's book. Sounds like it's going to be an awesome read!

Hi Runner10, great to see you here! Wow, that's an interesting title. What's the book about?

Hey Luci, I'm thrilled you enjoyed NO CHANCE! I love Gabe and Skylar too and I actually got to visit with them a little in SWEET REVENGE. They are doing very well! And I'm so happy you've started SECOND CHANCE. Cole's book was an emotional rollercoaster for me to write. Hope you enjoy reading it. And I'm so glad you're looking forward to McKenna's story in LAST CHANCE. I got to visit her a bit in SWEET REVENGE too. Wow, she's got spunk!

Thanks so much for the kind words, Luci! Those kinds of messages inspire me to write more!

Hi Sarah, looks like you've got some great reads to look forward to. And hope you enjoy NO CHANCE. Sad to say you won't see Victor's demise in that book but keep on reading the trilogy. Victor's end is near! Enjoy!

Hey Mary, looks like you had some great reads last week! I can't wait to read Bella's new book. It sounds and looks so good!

Thank you, Kris! As I told my hubby this morning when he was so excited that I finished--the hard part truly begins now, it's just the agonizing part that's over. Tomorrow the cuts and slices and intensive surgery starts or what is officially called 'revision hell'. LOL. Hard to believe I love my job!

Have a great day everyone! Be sure to come back tomorrow for a quick give-away of some LCR books!

Cripes! YESTERDAY was Monday! :-P I knew that. LOL. goodness.

So glad everyone has started to cooperate for you Christy! Can't wait to hear what the D-man did to make you cry...and not tears of frustration this time. ;-)

I'm still in the midst of my Gerard extravaganza, but I took a break to read Silent Scream which was a winner. I love books where I haven't figured it out by the halfway point! And to *think* I'd figured it out, but there was even more? Such fun.

Ok, off to do month end, first day back from vacation craziness.

xo

Wow, I have alot of books to write down to checkout. Didn't read alot. "Open Season" and "After the Night" by Linda Howard. They were all good reads.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Ronlyn, for some reason it feels like Wednesday instead of Tuesday but it actually should feel like Monday and not Tuesday, so I'm all mixed up this week. (:

I have Cindy Gerard and Karen Rose arriving very soon from Amazon and I'm soooo afraid I'm going to be tempted to open the box. I can't. I can't. I have a July 1 deadline. I have to be strong!

Hope you had a good day!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Jackie! Are you on a Linda Howard kick? If so, have you read Dream Man and All the Queen's Men? They're two of my favorites.

krisgils33 said...

I LOVE All the Queen's Men!!

Jackie P said...

Christy, just wrote them down. Thanks, Krisgils33 now I know I must grab for sure if it is that good.

Christy, so glad you finished. You can make it. And just think you will be giving us something really, really, really good to read. Not saying this to put you under pressure but I truely need a Christy Reece book fix. I miss how you tell a story. :)

Mary G said...

Ok Peeces. I just finshed True Vision by Joyce Lamb & it was awesome, even better than I expected. You won't be disappointed.

Christy Reece said...

Oh Kris, don't you just love John Medina? (:

Jackie, you are so SWEET! Revisions start tomorrow, so wish me luck!

Mary, bought True Vision today at Walmart. Going to have to hold off until after deadline, but it does look soooo good! Thanks for the recommend!

Kara C said...

Jackie,
Watch yourself around Christy. She is addicted to Criminal Minds and Linda Howard books and is ruthless in her attempts to get you hooked. :) Both Howard books mentioned were great, even if one made me cry.
Christy, it feels like Wednesday instead of Tuesday but it actually should feel like Monday and not Tuesday? No Chance, Second Chance, Last Chance? You live for those who's one first moments, don't you? Congrats again on finishing this phase of Dylan's story. You had to fight the man for each word. I imagine it will be tough deciding which ones to now leave out!

Mary G said...

Hi Christy
You have to hide True Vision. Don't even be tempted to look at the first few pages. You will be
trapped LOL.

krisgils33 said...

Mary G-
Just finished up Never Too Hot. Loved it. Couldn't figure out which line might have blown you away. Share??

Christy et al-
My all time favorite Linda Howard is by far "Kiss Me While I Sleep". I can't even begin to explain why (especially since she has so very many good books!!).

Kara C said...

Mary,
I've moved True Vision to the top of the pile. I'm reading two books right now, but as soon as I finish one of those, I'll get started. I still have to read Cold Midnight too!

Mary G said...

Hi Kris
Page 308 about "his crew". Don't want to spoil it.

Mary G said...

Kara
I just bitched to Joyce that she ruined me cause I don't feel like reading anything else right now.
The books aren't connected so there is no order.Damn she's good.

Luci said...

Seems to me I must really check Joyce Lamb out. Does she write romantic suspense? Is the book you are mentioning part of a series? I am a stickler for reading in order.

Christy I am on LAST CHANCE! I already love Lucas Kane. I am loling because from the little bit i read he kept calling McKenna 'love' - such a British expression. My father in law calls my daughters that and it really annoys me. From Lucas I could definitely take it though :).

I don't know whether to feel bereft that this is your last book i can read in a while or breathe a sigh of relief that I can get back to work because these last three days I have seriously neglected work - couldn't do otherwise, I was just sucked in by the Chance books.

Mary G said...

Hi Luci
Yes Joyce Lamb write rom. susp. Books are not connected (yet). True Vision is the first of a trilogy. The others are not out yet.

Luci said...

Thanks Mary. Going to order True Vision straight away!

krisgils33 said...

Mary G-
found it. how could I have missed that the first time around???

Don't forget to email me your addresses so I can send you a True Vision bookmark.

Luci, I'm so glad you're enjoying LAST CHANCE and that you love Lucas. He was a bit of a different kind of hero for me to write but I really enjoyed writing his character. Hope you continue to love him!

And you'll pick up plenty of recommends here to see you through to my next release, but I'm thrilled you're looking forward to more books from me!
