Fabulous Friday!

Hey Everyone!

Hope you had a splendidifulrous week. (Yes, I made that word up!) I am celebrating because revisions for SWEET REVENGE went to my editor yesterday. Yayayayayayay! Trying not to get too excited since there could be more, but for right now, it's a 'Yippee!' moment for me.

This weekend, I plan to go on a reading binge. Now in the middle of Pamela Clare's Naked Edge and loving it! Not sure what's next. Thanks to all of you who recommended books to me. I will be reading several of those! Also, someone suggested, I think on Twitter, that I read The Help. I downloaded it on to my Kindle. Anyone read it? I know it was a huge bestseller.

Also, I wanted to let you all know that beginning October 1, which coincidently falls on a Friday, I'm starting a contest that will last the entire month of October. It's called Fall Friday Freebie Frivolity. Here's the gist. When I was a kid, one of the most enjoyable times at school were the fall festivals. I don't think we called them that, but that's what they were in my mind. One of the events I enjoyed the most was this fishing thing where you put a fishing pole on the other side of a curtain and someone attached a 'grab bag' to the hook. You never knew what was going to be in the grab bag. Could be homemade sweets (usually was) but might also include games, books. Anything! I loved opening my grab bag and finding surprises.

So here's what we're going to do. I'm going to blog every Friday about something fun and one commenter on the blog will receive a 'grab bag' box from me. No fishing pole necessary. (:

One thing that I know will be included are books. I promise the box will have at least 4 to 5 books. Some may be new, some may be older. All will be romance. And one of the books will be mine. There will be other treats as well. Nothing homemade. Don't want you to get food poisoning! We'll start it all on Friday, October 1, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Also, I hope to be sharing an excerpt of SWEET REVENGE in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout for that. And, of course, one of the things I always get the most excited about...the cover! Haven't seen anything yet, but can't wait to see what it'll look like this time.

Anything fun and fabulous you're looking forward to this weekend? What'cha reading? Anything on your mind?

Okay, now I'm off to have some more fun. Be sure to come back on Monday for Recommend Monday. I anticipate having a few recommends myself!

Have a great weekend all!

Hey Christy,

I said to myslef - let me check Christy's blog before i start my ironing marathon - and Surprise! I find a brand new post!!

That's great for SWEET REVENGE! Cannot wait for it to be out. When youhave the cover be sure to post a peek!

I do not usually read excerpts as i am already anxious for the book as i am without being given teasers :).

I am reading the third book in Leslie Parrish's Black CATs trilogy - Black at Heart. Its been a very good series. Will read other books by her for sure.

I also have a couple of Mariah Stewart books I promised a client and which i want to read before. I forgot the names but i read good things about her books so i decided to give her a try.

I love Pamela Clare - she writes great romantic suspense books but IMO she also has three historical romances that are among the best i have ever read.

TOmorrow is my husband's birthday and we are having lunch out at his favourite restaurant.

Sunday we have a wedding. We will arrive at the reception at around 1pm. These days though weddings have after parties too so it should go on until very late at night. Arranged for the girls to sleep at my mum. We don't go out much so the few times we do I go determined to have a blast :).

Really looking forward to the contests you are oging to organise. Love surprises :)

Have a great weekend!

Well, I'm still on my Beverly Barton reading binge, which has been great fun. Last night was curriculum night at Sammy's school where there was a huge emphasis on reading. (duh). It was great to hear though and to listen to what they are trying to do district-wide.
Tonight I'm going shopping. All. By. My. Self. WOO HOO!! I'm so excited. Shoes! Clothes! (Books!!) and no distractions. YAY!!! LOL.
Tomorrow is a party to celebrate a friend's 40th. Then Sunday is football. I need to do my weekend baking somewhere in there too so we have breakfast muffins and stuff for this coming week.
No rest for the wicked at my house. ;-)
I hope you have a great weekend!

Christy-

I recently discovered you, and checked out Rescue Me and Return to Me from the library. I read them both yesterday, I LOVED the books! I have Run to Me on hold, and will buy the next trilogy as my library doesn't have them. :) I can't wait to read the books. I am adding you to my list with Cindy Gerard and Cherry Adair, some of my other favorite romantic suspense writers.

I agree with Luci's posts on Pamela Clare's historicals, the MacKinnon Ranger series are some of my absolute favorites!

I am currently making my way through Elizabeth Lowell's Rarities Unlimited series.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Stephanie! I'm thrilled you enjoyed RESCUE ME and RETURN TO ME! Hope you love the rest of the books just as much or more. I'm honored to be on any list with Cindy Gerard and Cherry Adair, two of my very favorite romantic suspense authors!

BTW, I think we just became buddies on GoodReads too! Thanks so much for coming by and for your kind words. Hope you'll visit here often!

Okay so I'm back. No kiddies nearly drowned or anything so we survived and they are all taking a nap right now.....sigh......

Okay I have been reading a series by Karen Hawkins The Talisman Ring series. So far I've been enjoying it. I've read 4 now I am waiting on the library for the next 2. So in the mean time I am going to start either Maya Banks The Darkest Hour or Elizabeth Hoyts To Taste Temptation. I'll probably start MB first becuase EH is another series an I'll want to read them as close together as I can. BUT we'll see what mood strikes me. lol
My hubby is going to watch Rodney Carrington tonight. I surprised him with tickets for his bday. I'm super excited for him. Other than that it'll be pretty quiet in my neck of the woods this weekend. I just wish I was hanging out with Ronlyn this weekend. It sounds like she'll be having fun. :)

Christy I hope you enjoy your temporary breathing space. Enjoy your reading time and that husband of yours before its back to the world of LCR. I am super excited for you!

Christy, my three favourite Pamela Clare historicals are : Ride the Fire (its the third in a trilogy), Untamed and Surrender - these are part of the McKinnon Ranger series and it seems that finally she will be writing more books in this series. Don't ge tme wrong, I love her romantic suspense books but her McKinnon Ranger series takes place in America during the war between the English and the French - very interesting.

Christy, this is a SWEET idea. I am so excited.

Right now I am in the middle of Catherine Mann's Renegade. This is the first time I have read her, and so far so good.

Last night I finished Cindy Gerard's Under the Wire, I am determined to finish the Bodyguard series. One more to go.

I too get to go shopping this weekend. I had a deal with my hubby that I wouldn't buy any more books until my TBR pile was gone since it had grown to about 30. I am down to one to go, so YAY ME. I have so many that I want to get.

Enjoy your down time, you deserve it ;o)

Congrats on finishing your revisions. We going to a barbecue tomorrow, probably the last one of the year.

Hmmm... currently reading the following authors:

Web of Lies - Jennifer Estep
Circle of Death - Keri Arthur
Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins
Just One of the Guys - Kristan Higgins
The Darkest Hour - Maya Banks

Eagerly counting down for the following books that will be released within the next month-ish:

Bayou Moon - Ilona Andrews
Passions of a Wicked Earl - Lorraine Heath
Wrangler in Petticoats - Mary Connealy
Crown of Crystal Flame - CL Wilson

I must admit, I have been silently creeping on your blog for months now... finally decided to post something. What can I say? Other than how much I simply adore your books! Also, I for one appreciate authors that keep in touch with the readers - updates through blogs, facebook, twitter, or livejournal... I don't care what it is, I will eagerly follow anything! So thank you for providing updates for your poor, deprived readers - such as myself! =)

Last, but certainly not least, simply can not WAIT for your next three books. I have a countdown posted on Facebook and keep checking Amazon/Shelfari/Goodreads for the books... still no luck. But now I will be checking for the blurb and cover for Sweet Revenge! Whooo hoooo... hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Crystal, glad you survived the '3 under 3' swimming time! And what a SWEETheart you are to surprise your hubby with such a great gift. Hope he had a fun time.

I'm excited for me too because Seth and Honor have come back and started talking to me again. Whew! I'm starting back on SWEET JUSTICE on Monday and can't wait.

Have a great weekend!

Luci, I think I may have a couple of PC historicals. Will see if I have any of those. Since I'm continuing my 'you deserve it, so go do it' campaign, I'm headed to the bookstore in a couple of hours. And no, I do not have room for more books. And yes, I want more books, even if I don't have time to read them yet. And yes, it is a sickness. (:

Christy Reece said...

Hope, congratulations on getting your TBR pile down to one. I did not think that was even a possible goal for anyone. That is so awesome. Be sure to come back on Monday and tell us what you bought!

Christy Reece said...

Jane, thanks! Hope you had a great time at the barbeque. Is it cooling down in your area? Not sure what our temp was yesterday, but on Thursday, it was 97! Though I'm not a fan of cold weather, 97 in mid-September is still a bit much. Would settle for mid-80's all year long.

Hey Patterson1219! I'm so glad you posted and thank you so very much for your kind words. I'm thrilled you enjoy my books and that you're looking forward to the SWEET ones. As soon as SWEET REVENGE is up for pre-order, I'll post the information (I check the Random House site daily). The e-book is listed on the site, but not the paperback yet. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I'll give a heads up when the blurb, cover and excerpt are going to be posted.

Hope you'll come back and post often. And wow, enjoy all those great books you're reading and looking forward to reading. Looks like you're a voracious reader. Love it!

Lol Christy, my husband compares it to an addiciton actually. I have over 120 books still to read and i keep on buying even though my reading time has gone down drastically. Its a compulsion. He says its like a chocolate addiction - i keep on buying to make sure i am never caught without.

October's "Sweet" treat giveaways sound fantastic! Looking forward to all the fun.

With so many recs, picked up the Maya Banks "The Darkest Hour" so will be diving into another SEAL storyline shortly. I finally finished "Eat, Pray, Love" which my daughter insisted I read. Okay -- but not my usual cup of tea! Have "Julie & Julia" in the stack, too. Why does she insist that I read her book club books too??? However, I did read "The Help" and liked it.

I read Jane Porter's "She's Gone Country" and liked it alot. I have Susan Andersen's "Burning Up" to read this week. I've heard it's hot and a good read. Ronlyn has me motivated to hit the UBS and do some real damage. My TBR stack is getting very short. I need to replenish. Someone mentioned Lisa Marie Rice (???) and I haven't read anything by her.

Hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend. My grandson's soccer team won their first game and my beloved Oklahoma State Cowboys won their game bigtime so I'm enjoying the weekend just fine!!

My best to everyone!

Hi Christy

I read The Help this summer! It really was very good and very interesting! It held my attention all the way thru it. It's about African American maids in the south back in the day of slavery and how a white woman tells their story!

I also ready The Green Sweater which was based on a true story! VERY good! About how a girl and her family survived during the Nazi wars. NEVER thought I would like it but loved it!

Reading A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand right now.

Cannot wait for Sweet Revenge to come out!!

Weekend is almost over so hope you enjoyed it!

Luci, I agree, it is an addiction but one I would never want to give up. Wonderful adventures and fascinating characters within each one, just ready to take you away the instant you turn that first page. Who could resist? (:

Christy Reece said...

Anne, congrats on your grandson's soccer win and your Cowboys' win. The Crimson Tide won handily over Duke, so that was a SWEET treat at my house. However, my hubby's Volunteers are struggling this year, so it's not an entirely happy household. ):

Yes, if that TBR stack is dwindling, better replenish. Don't get caught without a book to read!

I have read Lisa Marie Rice and enjoyed her. I want to say the one I read was Dangerous Passions, but not sure if that's the correct name. I did like it. Remember a very alpha male and that it was very hot!

Hey Laura D! I haven't started The Help yet and looks like it's going to have to wait a while. Need to get back to writing tomorrow. However, it's on my Kindle and ready when I am. I've heard it's wonderful.

Glad you're looking forward to SWEET REVENGE. Hope to share an excerpt soon, so stay tuned!
