Recommend Monday!

Good Monday Everyone!

Did you have a fabulous week last week? How about your weekend? Did you do anything fun you want to share with us? What about great books? Did you read any last week? If so, please share the title(s) and author(s) so we can run out and grab a copy for ourselves!

Last week was another busy and eclectic one for me. More promo planning, a little bit of writing and then some planning for future books. Can't share anything yet, but stay tuned!

You'll probably notice that the release date for SWEET REVENGE was pushed back a week (as it happened with SWEET JUSTICE). New release date is October 4. A week's not bad. Right? I adore this book and hope you will too, so waiting one more week, just makes the anticipation SWEETer!

Did you notice that we're down to 35 days before SWEET JUSTICE releases? Yay!!! I'm hoping to get my author copies within the next couple of weeks. When I do, I'll have a giveaway. And remember, from September 6 when SWEET JUSTICE releases to October 4 when SWEET REVENGE releases, I'll have a daily giveaway from my stash of books I brought home from RWA!

Over the weekend, I read a fun and charming little book that I downloaded on my Kindle--Bewitching by Jill Barnett. Lots of laughs and a few tears for this sweet historical. And I just noticed there's a connected book (I was hoping there was) so I'm definitely going to download this one too.

My plans for this week are to do a bit more writing and planning. I'm anticipating copyedits for SWEET REWARD soon, which means I'll be back on deadline so I need to use this time wisely. But you know what copyedits mean for you? That's right, an excerpt isn't far away. Yay! Can't wait for you to meet Mia and get to know Jared better. Would it surprise you to know that I love this book, too? (:

If you're on Facebook, I'm going to be starting something on my page tomorrow called Teaser Tuesday. Every Tuesday until the release of SWEET JUSTICE, I'll share some lines from the book that will hopefully entice you to rush out and grab it on release day, which is, September 6! And since my Facebook account is now linked to my Twitter account and my Twitter account is linked to my homepage, everyone will be able to see these teasers. So be sure to check every Tuesday, starting tomorrow, either on my website, Facebook or Twitter for some SWEET JUSTICE fun!

Thank you all for the great feedback on Recommend Monday. I'm so glad the majority of you felt we should keep it. Once the SWEET books are out, we'll take a look at making a few adjustments for some additional fun.

Okay, that's it for me. I'm headed back to my writing cave to see what kind of trouble I can get my new characters into.

Can't wait to hear what you're recommending today!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Morning Christy.
Things have been insane for me for the past couple of weeks with suddenly buying a house and all the craziness that that involves. But, I did finish The Chesapeake Bay series by the amazing Nora Roberts and really enjoyed all 4 books. I've done some non-fiction/research reading and work reading. *sigh* Eventually I'd like to get my boring life back.
Can't wait to hear what you have in store for us!
cheers
R

Hey Christy - counting down the days to release day right along with you!

Had a very good weekend. Was one of those rare ones where we had places to go without the kids so it was also different than usual.

Friday had a wine tasting organised by work stuff. Was fun and very relaxing. I am one of the few who doesn't like wine but I took a few vodka and got very happy :). Saturday we had tickets to a Zucchero concert. He is a singer I doubt any of you will know about since he's Italian but he is very well-known here and it was a great concert. Yesterday went to lunch out with my bros and sisters and kids for my father's birthday. We are six siblings, plus our husbands/wives and my little sister's boyfriend and 13 nephews and nieces, plus my parents of course. Guess which table was the noisiest in the whole restaurant? :).

Was in a strange reading mood with multiple books started but not managing to get into any so I went back to read Julie Garwood's The Secret, which was the book that got me hooked to her medievals. Its my first reread of this book as I very rarely reread anything. I received Jennifer Ashley's The Sins of Lord Cameron and Thea Harrison's Dragon Bound so will soon start those.

The books I can recommend but that I know many of you have read, are Marie Force's Fatal series. I read them right after Karen Rose's You Belong to Me and I loved all four. I bought my kindle for books like Marie's that are only out as ebooks and don't regret it one iota. Am loving the series and cannot wait for the rest.

Happy Monday morning everyone!

Oh Christy! You got me charged up with two little words "new characters"!! Can't wait to hear more about this news.

I had a nice quiet weekend to read. And for some reason (could be all the news about "Cowboy" football), I read two very delightful and fun "cowboy romances." Carolyn Brown's first book in her new "Spikes & Spurs" series, "Love Drunk Cowboy" was fast, cute and fun to read . . . pretty much standard for the genre. I also read Katie Lane's second book in her "Deepe In the Heart of Texas" series, which is titled "Make Mine A Bad Boy." I very much enjoyed and laughed out loud with this one. "Bad Boy" has a sister, who is a real hoot (whose book is next, I'm hoping), who just makes me giggle. Anyway, I needed some laughter (the kids are away on vacation and I miss them!) and these two books fit the bill.

I also read Susan Andersen's "Playing Dirty," which was a good ending to the series. And I'm just about finished with Jill Sorenson's "The Edge of Night" which is absolutely captivating. This is her best one yet. I highly recommend it to any of you romantic suspense addicts!

Got a Monday-Monday forecast with 107 beng the lowest temp for the period and 111 the highest. Ugh! Where oh where is beautiful fall and can it make an early arrival??

Take care, stay cool and have a great week!

Luci said...

Oklanannie I thought The Edge of Night was really good too.

Good morning everyone!
Hopefully everyone had a fabulous weekend! I got some great news! My mother in-law who I LOVE is moving here for a job. She is a traveling nurse and a job just north of us opened up. On top of that my cousin and her family will be moving to Ft. Carson which is an hour south of me. I'm not going to know what to do with myself having family close by!!
Anyway on to the important stuff. I read 3 books by Linda Lael Miller.. McKettrick's Luck, McKettrick's Pride, and McKettrick's heart. I enjoyed all three of them! If anyone would like them let me know I'll mail them to you!
Ronlyn good luck with all the house buying stuff. Exciting and stressful at the same time I'm sure.

Barb said...

I too am counting down the days to release day and can't wait for the SWEET series to start! I had a very busy week moving stuff into the brand new addition onto my house but managed to read a few books too. I am still deep in the heart of the Virgin Rivers series by Robyn Carr. I think I am on book 14. I do recommend them even though I am ready for a break. Have a great week!

Hi Christy,

Seems as though there is so much to do when summer is flying by. The weather in upstate New York has been hot-hot-hot so we got some swimming in with the family. I did read "Breaking Point" by Pamela Clare and really liked it. I am now reading "Chasing Fire" by Nora Roberts. It got such mixed reviews that I was hesitant to get it, but I am a died in the wool NR fan so I am giving it a try. Cannot wait for release day!

HI Christy,I am looking forward to the excerpt of SWEET REWARD - like Annie, Jared intrigued me when he had his first appearance in Last Chance.
And I would love to hear about your plans for new books.

Last week I finally read Fatal Affairs by Marie Force - thanks to Ronlyn who took great efforts to get me a copy.
Ronlyn, thanks again - I hope you got my e-mail. I discovered only after I sent the mail to you, that Marie Force signed the copy - wow.
I loved the story of Sam and Nick and as the first book of the Fatal series is now in print, I hope the other two will be offered by amazon in print.
I also read and enjoyed McKenzie Mountan by Linda Howard and just started with McKenzies Legacy.

Ronlyn congratulations for buying a house- that is really exciting news and I can imagine that there are a lot of things to be done.

Have a great week everyone.

Ronlyn said...

Elke! I did get your email, sorry I didn't get back to you right away. I'm a bit behind on emails. :-) But you are SO welcome! Marie is wonderful and came through for us in getting you that copy.

Anne, what are the others in Susan Anderson's series. I should know that but I'm having trouble remembering.

Alison said...

Hi everyone! Hi Christy!

I finished Waking Evil last week and really liked it. Kylie Brant always shocks me with who her villians are!

I also read Playing Dirty by Susan Andersen and With No Remorse by Cindy Gerard. Loved them both!

I've been in a bit of a slump...I've been having a really hard time deciding what to read next. I'm hoping all the great books releasing tomorrow will cure me :)

oklanannie said...

Elke - so glad to hear you saw that "spark" in Jared, as well! Can't wait to hear what you think once we get his SWEET story!

Jane from New York - Nora has been a hit and miss for me for sometime but I read "Chasing Fire" and really enjoyed the story. I bet you will, too! And I also gave in and read her "The Search" and was surprised to find that it kept me captivated from beginning to ending. I recommend it as well, if you haven't already read it.

Ronlyn - The other two books in SA's series are: "Bending the Rules" and "Cutting Loose." Poppy and Jane's stories. Ava's is my favorite!

Hey all,
I finished Cindy Gerard's new book yesterday. She is always a solid go to author for me! I'm also doing a few rereads. Nothing says "comfort read needed" like the end of summer/ beginning of school!
Sounds like you have some SWEET plans for us, Christy. And you've always been good at teasing us, giving it a name just makes it more official, huh?
Hope everyone has a great day and week!

Hey Ronlyn! I missed you! How cool on the house buying. Hope things go without a hitch!

Glad you enjoyed the NR series. I've added it to my list.

LOL A boring life does have its pluses, doesn't it?

Have a great week!

Christy, I can't wait for the books, but teasers JUST KILL ME!!!

Busy and fun weekend. Had a great time hosting a pool party and bbq with some of my very best peeps.

I have 2 teenagers living at my house this week, they're babysitting my daughter. REALLY makes me wonder how parents with multiple children do it!!!! Less than an hour in my house and they had consumed so much food and drink (right after the bbq!!!) and left wet bathing suits on the floor and clothes everywhere!!

I was able to read a bunch of really good books last week:
With No Remorse, Cindy Gerard
One Summer, JoAnn Ross
Black Ties and Lullabies, Jane Graves
The Chase, Erin McCarthy
Can't Hurry Love, Christie Ridgway

Christy Reece said...

Hey Luci! Thanks for counting! (:

Wow, your weekend sounds perfect. And oh how I loved The Secret, behind The Bride, it's my very favorite Julie Garwood.

Can't go wrong with Karen Rose or Marie Force books! And so great that you're enjoying your Kindle! I'm learning to love mine too--and good books do help.

Have a great week!

Cindy said...

Hi Christy,
I just ran across your books about a week ago, now I am haunting the books stores finding all of the them. I can't seem to read them fast enough. I love that you are coming out with more. Ever thought about putting them into movies I think they would be box office hits.
Since I am from Arizona I have been reading JA Jance, her series is a great read but it really is nice since I know where every thing is.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Anne! Thank you for wanting to hear about new characters. I'm looking forward to getting to know them better too. (:

Thanks for the recommendations. I will definitely look for Jill Sorenson's book. I'm in the mood for a good romantic suspense!

Oh my. 107! That's just so wrong. However, I can't think of a better reason to eat Ice cream!

Have a great week and try to stay cool!

Christy Reece said...

Crystal, how wonderful that you're going to have family close. I know how difficult it is to live away from loved ones.

Thanks for the recommends! Have a great week!

Crystal said...

Cindy welcome to the LCR groupies group!! I think Christy's books would be box office hits also!!

Hi all! Hi Christy! Sorry so late today.

Sick kid, sick husband, cancelled vacation, bleh.

However before all of the above I got in some good reads....

Lie with Me by Stephanie Tyler...how I missed this series is beyond me, but I am looking forward to catching up quickly. Great read!

I got caught up on the Emily March series by reading Hummingbird Lake and Heartache Falls...enjoying this series also.

Sizzle and Burn by Alexis Grant the start of a new series.

And, Make Mine A Bad Boy by Katie Lane. Anne, I can't wait to read the next one in this series also, hope it is about Bad Boys sister too.

Has anyone read How to Knit a Love Story by Rachael Herron? If so, thoughts please.

Christy, I got my new Romantic Times today and WOW, what a great cover and story! Can't wait for release day.

Up next for me is Breaking Silence by Linda Castillo. It's the third in a series by her and I can't say enough about the series, love it.

Have a great week everyone!

I can not believe I almost missed this today. For some reason summer has messed with my head, I thought today was Sunday until my hub-unit said he had to run to the bank and he hoped they had cookies today. lol

I can't WAIT for the new SWEET books, and apparently we must wait another week, but no worries, there is lots of rereads that I will be doing. I have missed Jordan and Eden, been several months since I picked that one up.

I had a pretty good week last week for books. I read Black Ties and Lullabies by Jane Graves. A recommend by Kris. It was a very cute story. In my opinion it was a Pretty Woman with a twist kind of a story.

I also read With No Remorse, Doc's story. I heart him. I have been looking forward to his book for so long. I am a bit bummed to learn that the next book will be the last, but still can't wait to read it.

Today I finished Underground by Nicole Laurent...this was such a good romantic suspense. I don't know who recommended it to me, but I have had it on my Nook for quite some time. I have really enjoyed it. This is Ms. Laurent's first full length book. You can get it from smashwords or bn.com.

Busy week the rest of the week, but lots of good new books come out tomorrow *rubbing my hands together with glee* have a great week!!

Hope said...

Anne - what is the first book in that cowboy series by Katie Lane? I don't think I have read her. I must find out more :)

Cindy, welcome to the LCR group. You are finding Christy's books at a good time, there is a new one coming out soon, so you don't have to wait like the rest of us. When you get caught up, come back and let us know your fav.

Tara - Steph's new one is out tomorrow in that series. I love those boys, glad you like them too.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Barb! So glad you're looking forward to the SWEET book! Congrats on moving to your new addition. Hope it went smoothly.

Oh wow, I'm so behind on the VR series I'm not sure I'll ever catch up. But from what I've heard, it'll be worth the journey. (:

Have a great week!

Tara said...

Hope, not Anne, but the first book in the series is Going Cowboy Crazy. Hope you enjoy them. I am just starting Promises in the Dark by Stephanie Tyler, so I have some catching up to do. But it's nice to find a series I don't have to wait for the next release.

And Crystal congrats on your MIL moving closer! I love my MIl also and wished she lived closer. I just make her stay longer each time she comes to visit.

Alison said...

Hope, I also read Katie Lane's cowboy series and its lots of fun!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Elke! I can't wait for you to meet Jared. He's kind of a different man than what you saw in LAST CHANCE but I have to say, he's one of my very favorite LCR characters. And the most Alpha hero I've ever written. Mia is a perfect match for him!

How cool that Marie's Fatal books are going into print. A great opportunity for everyone to find out how great they are. And Mackenzie's Mountain is one of my all time favorite Linda Howard book. Love all the Mackenzie's. LOL, even the ones that never got a book!

BTW, Elke, I sent you an email last week but wasn't you got it. I deleted the email with your mailing address by mistake and need you to resend it.

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Alison! Oh, I loved being shocked by who the villain is. Will definitely have to read Waking Evil!

Thanks for the recommends. Hope you find something fabulous to read soon!

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Kara! I've heard great things about Cindy's new book. Can't wait to get caught up on the series so I can read it. And yay for comfort reads!

LOL Yep, I have officially named my brand of torture Teaser Tuesday. (:

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Kris! LOL I'm sorry for hurting you with my teasers. And even to me, the first one is painfully short. Will try to find a longer one for next week.

Wow, great list of recommends. Thank you!

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hi Cindy! Welcome to the blog. I'm thrilled you're here and double thrilled that you've enjoyed my books! So glad you're looking forward to the new ones.

Oh how I would love to see my books made into movies. I think that's the dream of most writers simply because we see the story in our minds much like a movie already. However, that takes a huge amount of money, someone in Hollywood with interest and lots and lots of luck!

I've always thought LCR would make a great television series. (A rescue a week kind of thing) But, so far, no takers. One can always dream, though. (:

I'm so glad you found my books and you came by for Recommend Monday. Hope you'll come back again.

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Tara! Hope hubby and kid get better soon. So sorry about the cancelled vacation. That hurts!

Thanks for all the recommends. You have definitely read some great ones!

LOL Thank you for mentioning the Romantic Times Magazine cover and article. I can't believe I totally spaced this and forgot to mention it on Monday's blog. Will jump on the blogger in a bit and share the link. And thank you, I thought they did a great job too!

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Hope! That happens to me too. I'll wake up sometimes and review each day in my mind to narrow down what today might be. (:

Waiting for the SWEET books to release has been agony for me. As soon as I finished writing one, I'm so excited about the story and want to get it into the hands of readers right away. But there's lots that happens to a book AFTER I write it. Hopefully an extra week for SWEET REVENGE won't be too painful though. And if you reread RESCUE ME, say hey to Jordan and Eden for me! (You'll get to see a glimpse of him and Gabe in SWEET JUSTICE)

Oh, thanks for the recommend on Nicole Laurent. Will definitely look her up!

Hope you find some good reads on Release Tuesday. Have a great week!

I'm having a love affair with the Kindle app on my iPhone for the last 10 days. So easy to shop.
1-click shopping is my new fave icon LOL.

I thoroughly enjoyed Marie Force's McCarthy Series.

Loved Exclusively Yours & Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey. Now reading the third in the series Yours To Keep. It's great too. Loaded lots more books.
