Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend and if you're in the US, hope your Thanksgiving was filled with family, fun and lots of good food! In the midst of holiday chaos, did you have a chance to do any reading? If so, we're anxious to hear from you.

I've got lots going on today. My Internet was down for several hours and I was in a panic. It's back up now but my equipment is being upgraded today and that means I've got to clean house. I just hate for workmen to come into a messy house, don't you? (:

I'm reading a wonderful historical right now--Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen. Has anyone read it? I'm about halfway through and am thoroughly enjoying it.

It's going to be a rainy week here, so in between cleaning, writing, cyber shopping and a bit of decorating, I hope to do more reading. What would you recommend?

Anyone notice that we're just 28 days away from the release of SWEET REWARD? Yay for Jared and Mia! Hard to believe this will be the last Last Chance Rescue book. If possible, would you show your love for the LCR gang and pre-order SWEET REWARD? Let's show that there's lots of love out there for Noah and the gang! (:

Okay, I'm headed to the closet for dusting, vacuuming and cleaning materials. Woohoo! Hope everyone has a fabulous day. Can't wait to hear about your Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping and your great reads!

Have a great day everyone!

I loved Lord & Lady Spy. Great book. Hope she puts out more for the series. I had a great holiday and glad that you also did. I love historical romances. I just finished Julia Quinn's Mr Cavendish, I Presume. Right before that I read The Lost Duke of Wyndham. I love Julia's books. My fav is the Bridgerton series. She has a new book coming out soon following Just Like Heaven.
Have a wonderful Christmas. Love your blog and can't wait for your next post.

Hi Chris! I'm not sure how I learned about Lord and Lady Spy but so glad I did. Such a good story and premise.

Oh, I love Julia Quinn. Haven't read her newest books, but I do love her earlier ones.

So happy you enjoy the blog. Check back often for more recommends! Merry Christmas to you too!

Hi Christy, hi Everyone,
I hope yo all had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend.

We had the first really bad storm with heavy rainfall - almost horizontal due to the storm. Grrr - not even our dog wanted to leave the house.
But the weather was good for reading. I was in a "Lady Julia"( by Deanna Rayburn) reading frenzy. I started the first book "Silent in the grave" last week and liked it so much that I read the next two books " Silent in the sanctuary" and "Silent in the moor" right away.
The next two books in this series are already on my "to buy" list.
It looks like I have to check out "Lord and Lady Spy" - sounds like fun.

I also read "Unwritten rules" by M.A. Stacie - it was okay but although I love a tortured hero and a strong heroine , I prefer it when the hero is more of an Alpha male(like yours are ,Christy) and that quality was a bit lacking there i.m.o.

Have a great week Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Our family was very thankful to enjoy being together, sharing a wonderful Thanksgiving meal together, and watching lots of football. Of course, there was time for reading, too!

Finally, Victoria Dahl's Donovan Bros. series reached the top of my TBR stack. I really enjoyed all three books plus the short novella prior to Eric's story. The entire series is filled with great characters and fun & witty storylines, along with some off-the-chart sizzling romance.

I've also been caught by a cold bug and am unable to breathe through my nose which is very annoying. Just wears me down and makes me miserable. We've had such warm weather and then suddenly plunged into cold, rainy and windy weather. I'm blaming Mother Nature for this cold!! Gotta blame someone, don't I??

Enjoy the week and I hope it's filled with lots of good reads!

No thanksgiving here but have been super busy anyway :). No luck with the reading though, still going through a major slump and i cannot finish a book. Am trying my luck with Trish McCallan's Forged in Fire. Reviews are very good, will see.

I love historicals so will check out Lord & Lady Spy.

Cannot wait for SWEET Reward Christy! want to read all three back to back. Will take them up to our holiday house with me and without internet and TV will have me a SWEET marathon :)

I had a good Thanksgiving as well. Went shopping, had lots of fun watching all the crazy people.
I didn't have a lot of time to read but I did read a few that I really liked. Caines Reckoning by Sarah McCarty, I am really liking this series, even thoigh I have read out of order. The Hawk by Monica McCarty and The Highlanders Bride by Donna Fletcher, a new to me author, it was good, I will look for her books in the future. Well thats it for me. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Christy - glad you had a good thanksgiving. Ours was ok - I liked having 4 days off more than anything else! Didn't do any black friday shopping, but I did go to Books A Million and spent $132.00 on some new books! Have you read "The Making of a Gentleman" by Shana Galen? It's really good - I read it a few months back. I can't remember what I read last week - one of the books I read made me cry - that's all I recall - isn't that awful?? I need to keep better track! I did find the 2 Judith McNaught's that were recommended last week at my UBS, (along with a bunch of other stuff on my list)....all those book purchases are probably why I can't remember what I actually did read last week! haha I am looking forward to Sweet Reward, even though it's the last LCR book. As always, I will be looking into all the recommends on here today!

Hey Elke! The titles of Deanna Rayburn's books sound like the perfect read for a cold, rainy day. I'm definitely going to put these books on my 'must read' list.

I like the occasional beta hero but have to admit my faves are those tough, alpha males! (:

Have a great week, Elke!

Hey Anne! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving, but so sorry you got sick. Being sick during the holiday season just seems so wrong. Hope you feel better soon!

Don't you love it when you find a series with several books and you can glom them. So glad you're enjoying Victoria Dahl's series. She's such a lovely person.

Take care of yourself!

Hi Gail! Wow, your husband is a strong man to brave Black Friday. Seems like it gets more dangerous each year.

I think Fern Michaels is one of my mom's favorite authors. I really need to read some of hers. I think she's got most of them. Thanks for the recommend!

Christy Reece said...

Luci, so sorry about your reading slump. I hate it when that happens. Have you tried going back to one of your favorite comfort reads? Sometimes that helps.

So glad you're looking forward to SWEET REWARD. A SWEET marathon sounds like a fun time! (:

Hey Christy!
I think Anne and I have the same holiday weekend cold, but I have finally convinced my mom it's not pneumonia and am beginning to feel a bit better...just in time to go back to work. ;-)
Being sick did give me more couch time to read and I really enjoyed some of them. I finished the first in Nora Roberts' new series, The Next Always. She does such a terrific job of writing fun interactions between her characters. I can't wait to read the next book! I also read a new to me author, Bonnie Dee, a story called Bone Deep. It is definitely a unique storyline, which I found refreshing.

P.S. SWEET REWARD is preordered and my Kindle is waiting most impatiently for it. :-)

Hi Christy!

I'm glad you had such a good holiday! I had a great Thanksgiving in MO with my family!

I've been on a historical kick recently. I took Ronlyn's recommendation and read The Guardian and The Sinner by Margaret Mallory and really liked them! I just finished To Love a Thief by Julie Anne Long and loved it!

Right now I'm reading The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley and really liking it!

Can't wait for Sweet Reward! I've got it pre-ordered for my Kindle...now it just needs to arrive :)

Kara C said...

Alison,
I'm glad you mentioned the Jennifer Ashley book. I meant to tell Christy (because she'll be so proud) that *I* am reading that book right now, and really, really liking it. LOL! (I've been looking for 'the' historical to get me hooked on the genre).

Also, a note to all that the second book in Marie Force's Treading Water trilogy is out today. It's called Marking Time. Everyone should check it out!

Christy Reece said...

Hi KC! LOL on watching the crazy people on Black Friday. I'll bet that was entertaining.

I keep meaning to read Sara McCarty's books. I've heard so many great things about them. Love Monica McCarty! Will check out Donna Fletcher. Thanks for the recommends!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Shelly! Spending lots of money at a bookstore definitely constitutes a good time to me. (:

This is my first Shana Galen book but I'll definitely be looking for more.

Oh, when you remember the book that made you cry, let us know. (:

Hope you enjoy the Judith McNaught books. Let us know if you need more recommends on her. Crystal and I can definitely help you out.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Kara! So sorry you've been sick. Hope you're feeling better!

Will definitely check into Bone Deep. Love that title.

Thank you for pre-ordering SWEET REWARD! (:

Christy Reece said...

Hi Alison! An historical kick is a good thing to do. And sounds like you've had some good luck. I've not read the others but I did really enjoy The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie. Different and excellent.

Thanks so much for pre-ordering SWEET REWARD! Will be delivered to your Kindle in 28 days or less. (:

Christy Reece said...

KK, we haven't gotten you hooked on historicals yet? If this books doesn't do it, let me know. Will put my thinking cap on and find a way to get you addicted. (:

Thanks for reminding us about Marie's new book!

I am late again I know, but I've made a mad dash to Missouri and a mad dash back to Colorado. I got three hours of sleep Saturday night left about 5:30 Sunday morning to come back. My typical 12 hour trip turned into a 19 hour trip so I didn't pull in my drive way until 1:30 Monday morning. I went to bed at 2:30 got up at 5:00 with my hubby for work. All this time my poor little ones are sick, but my little girl started to struggle with breathing yesterday afternoon. I took her to the ER last night and they admitted her immediately and she was on oxygen and breathing treatments all night. So I am barely awake as I type this, but...
I really enjoyed Lord and Lady Spy Christy I hope you do as well.
Kara how are you liking The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie? :)
I haven't been able to read a word so I have nothing to recommend. Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Oh Crystal, I hope your little one is much better! How very scary for everyone. I know you must be exhausted. Hugs to all of you!
