Recommend Monday

Good Monday All!

Hope you had a fabulous week and weekend. Can't wait to hear about the books and/or movies you're recommending today.

Last week was catch up week for me. Focusing on all those things I let slide during my deadline kept me busy. I also had to write a brief synopsis--one of my least favorite things to do. Taking what will someday be a 400 page book and whittling it down into a one page outline is sheer torture for me. And it didn't work this time. I couldn't get it smaller than 2 pages. LOL Each word seemed so valuable and precious. However, I will say that the story synopsis of MIDNIGHT LIES, the second book in the Midnight series, turned out even better than I anticipated. I almost cried twice while I was writing it. Not because I hate writing synopses but because of the story. I wanted to stop a couple of times and just hug my characters. Can't wait to get started!

This week I'm focusing on a Last Chance Rescue novella, CHANCES ARE. If you get a chance, go over to my Facebook Last Chance Rescue page at https://www.facebook.com/LastChanceRescuebooksbychristyreece where I'm sharing random lines from the book every few days. I worked on the story a little last week; it was so good to chat with Noah again!

Also this week I'll continue planning for the new Ella Grace website. I'd love to get your input on what you'd like to see. Other than a brief bio, a reader letter and the books with excerpts, what else do you like to see on a website? Are there any particular websites you think are done really well? If so, let me know so I can check them out.

Still haven't seen any new movies. Seems like life gets in the way of having fun sometimes. My sweetheart and I need to make that a priority at least once a month. Guess Mr. Reece and I need to have a chat. (:

I am back to reading again--mostly at night before I go to sleep. I'm in the middle of several books and hope to be able to recommend them once I finish. I did read and love Pamela Clare's novella Skin Deep. I adore the I-Team series and Pamela is such a wonderful writer!

Okay, that's it for me. I'm going to take a walk with one of my fur-kids and hopefully have a nice long talk with Noah McCall. He's got a dilemma with one of his employees and I can't wait to see how he plans to solve the problem.

Hope you all have a fabulous week. Stay in the shade and read something delicious!

Hey gang,
I had an unusual weekend. My people went camping friday afternoon, so I had til Sun noon all to myself. I went shopping and had dinner with a friend Fri nite and then watched Act of Valor when I got home. Sat I cleaned and did grocery shopping and also had a 2 hr nap and got lots of reading in! I also rented This Means War, which was totally cute...the two hotties and the always adorable Reese Witherspoon!! I caught up with an old friend Sun before the peeps came home and they regaled me with their camp stories and I made dinner for dad's day.

The only book I read was Deadly Dance by Dee Davis. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Christy, everything on your plate sounds wonderful. I can't wait to catch up with the LCR gang and I'm really looking forward to meeting all the inhabitants of Midnight!

Good morning everyone!

This past week I read two really fun-to-read and captivating connected books by Jillian Dodd, "That Boy" and "That Wedding." They've been labeled Young Adult genre but they're definitely on the older end of that status. Really enjoyed them both and am looking forward the third one in the series, "That Baby."

Christy, I love reading the teaser sentences for "Chances Are." Guess you could say, I'm alrady hooked (as if that's any big surprise to you!).

Hope the good people of "Midnight" are sharing lots of secrets with you this week. The release of that first book in the new series can't get here soon enough for me!!

Off to do errands before it gets too hot. Temps close to 100 this week in our forecast. Summertime has arrived!

Happy Reading to one and all!

Hi All!

Only one recommendation this week...Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley. The title sounds like it would be a light and fluffy read, but its actually pretty dark. Its so good though!

Christy, love your teasers! I'm can't wait to catch up with the LCR gang :)

Have a good week everyone!

Hello ladies...we had a great weekend, we went CAMPING...I am not usually the camping type, but it was tons of fun, and I think I will do it again next month.

As for my recommendations this week, I read Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley, the end to her Dream Man series and I loved it, of course. Looking forward to her new series about Chaos.

I also read An Irresistible Bachelor by JR Ward. I have had this in my TBR pile for a long time, and I am kicking myself for waiting so long. Great light read.

At Peace by Kristen Ashley was up last week to, this is the 2nd in her Burg series, and I really liked it. I wasn't so sure about Joe, but Alison told me to keep going and I am glad I did.

As for website suggestions...I like links that the author likes, it could be links to other authors sites, links to where you can buy the books, anything to make life a little easier.

Have a great week everyone.

Hi Christy, hi Everyone,
glad to hear you are working on a new LCR novella, Christy. I am not yet on facebook - but if you continue to share bits and pieces of new stories there I might have to change that.

I had some fabulous reads last week.

I read Adrienne Giordanos Private Protector series and I highly recommend it. Thanks to Hopes bookshelf ( I brouse there regularly - you do an awesome job with your reviews Hope)I was forwarned about the one sad part in "Man Law" and so I wans´t too shocked about it.
Chronologically the first book is "Risking Trust" (although it came out last), next is " Man Law" and the thirt book is " A Just Deception". There will be a forth book, which comes out in August, I think, and I already preordered it.

Currently I am reading Catherine Manns Elite Force series. I finished "Cover Me" ( loved it) yesterday and just downloaded the next one " Hot Zone" . The teaser chapter was intriguing and I am eager to start. Good thing I am not much into soccer, because with the European Championship going on, there would be a serious conflict between reading and watching television .But I keep my fingers crossed for the german team of course. They are doing well so far.

Happy reading, Everyone!

Hey, look at this...it's Monday, before 5pm and I'm HERE!! LOL.

This week I read "Hearts of Darkness" by debut author Kira Brady. It was a little steampunk, which caught me by surprise, as I'm not into steampunk, and paranormal in a really fun way. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely read more from her when they are released.

The only movies that I've seen lately contain super heroes...and I much prefer them over the Star Wars series which I've seen 18 zillion times. I simply don't understand the appeal with boys and Star Wars.

I can't wait to hear more about the mysteries happening in Midnight. :-)

Elke, thank you so much, you made me smile. I have been rather slacking the last few weeks with my reviews, my like kind of got crazy, but just an FYI she just published a novella for that series as well. It is called Negotiating Point. I am very glad you liked that series.

Yay, Kris! You so deserved a restful weekend. Sounds like it was a wonderful one. And you watched the two movies I'm dying to see. Glad to hear you enjoyed them.

Thanks for the recommend on Dee Davis. Haven't read her in a while. Need to add her to my list.

Glad you're looking forward to meeting the citizens of Midnight. Just met a couple more this weekend. They are an intriguing bunch.

Glad to say that Noah and the gang are up to their old tricks again.(:

Hi Gail! Wow, The Future of our Past sounds very interesting. Will definitely check it out. Love those angsty reads!

Oh, I so want to see Snow White and the Huntsman. Thanks for the recommend on it too.

Last week Mr. Perfect and Open Season, by Linda Howard were recommend reads. For me they were home runs, comfort books. I loved them. My weekend consisted of helping my seventy-one year old mother pack up and prepare to move her ninety-one year old mother, my grandmother. My fifteen year old daughter topped off the four generation packing party. (The fifth generation is only four years old.)

"That's the way it works: they take care of you when you're young, you take care of them when they're old."-Open Season

"Because it was her birthday, supper was one of her favorites: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans."-Open Season

I enjoyed both books so much. The above quotes really hit home, the first for obvious reasons, the second because this is my favorite comfort food too!

Mr. Perfect made me laugh out loud. Such good therapy. Thank God for talented writers that provide imaginative escape.

If you haven't read these and just need a breather, picked up Mr. Perfect and Open Season. And laugh out loud. :D

Hugs to all.

Anne, I saw your comments about these two books on GoodReads and thought they sounded very interesting. I've not read a lot of YA but it is so popular, I definitely need to branch out. A very good friend of mine writes fabulous YA books, Jennifer Echols. Hers are the only YA books I've read. I highly recommend her!

Glad you're enjoying the CHANCES ARE teasers on Facebook. It's been such a joy to see these characters again.

Still don't have a release date for MIDNIGHT SECRETS. Hopefully that'll be coming soon along with pre-order info. And of course that steamy cover. (:

Stay cool out there. We're just in the high 80's today which is a nice change!

Hi Alison! Oh, I loved Sweet as Sin. A great read with a nice amount of angst. (:

Glad you're enjoying the LCR teasers. I'll probably start doing them every Friday. Wish I could do them every day but that might be giving a little too much away. (:

Hope, glad you enjoyed your camping trip. Before we were married, we used to do that all the time. It was such fun.

Man oh man, I'm missing out on not reading Kristen Ashley, aren't I? Seriously need to get over my first person phobia. So many seem to love these books.

Thanks for the suggestion on my website. I'll definitely include that!

I finally got out of my reading slump. Last week I read: In her sights by Robin Perini, Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis, Night Moves by Stephanie Tyler, and The Player by J.R. Ward. All were great reads.

Elke, hope you'll cave in and join Facebook. I love chatting over there. And yes, I spend way too much time there. (:

Thanks so much for the recommends. I haven't read Adrienne Giordano yet. Will definitely put her on my list. I've heard others say her books are great, too.

Hey Ronlyn! I've not ever read steampunk before. Will add Kira to my list.

Yeah, I'm more of a super hero fan than Star Wars too. Although a young Harrison Ford is always easy on the eyes. (:

Christy Reece said...

Yay, Sam! I'm so glad you enjoyed Mr. Perfect and Open Seasons. Such wonderful lines in those books. I will always be grateful to Linda Howard for her wonderful writing.

Wow, KC! You definitely got out of your reading slump. Thanks for all the fabulous recommends!

Things have been busy here as we near the time for our women's conference. I have my message ready, all my volunteers are on to of their assignments so I have had time to read.
I just finished reading a series by Bella Andre "Hot Shots; Men of Fire) it was an exceptional book. I will be re-reading Maya Banks KGI Series. Her next book in the series comes out the 3rd of July. For those who have not read the series I highly recommend it. It is about the Kelly Family. There are 5 or 6 sons plus 2 teas of operatives. They take on rescues and other operations that the goverment won't do.
Christy I am waiting rather impatiently for your new book and your LCR novella.
As far as web sites go. I use to design them, I have found yours easy to navigate. Normally when I am on an authors web site the bio blog and books are what I search out. The one thing about yours that I love are the colors!
Well that is my 2 cents worth a day late. Have an awesome week!

Hi Jeannie, hope your women's conference goes well. Sounds like you're all prepared. Thanks for the recommends. Also, thanks for the suggestions on what you like in a website. So glad mine is easy to navigate and you enjoy the colors. I prefer dark colors to light for Christy Reece. Not sure what my designer will suggest for Ella Grace. Will be fun to play around with it.
