Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

Was your weekend fabulous? Did you do anything fun and exciting you want to share with us?

My weekend was quite full and fun. I managed to get some major writing in as well as celebrate my sweetheart's birthday. And yesterday, I did something I haven't done in a while--I watched an entire movie! My Sister's Keeper was on HBO and since a friend of mine had told me how it ended, I told myself it wouldn't be as emotional and heart-wrenching. Silly me! I bawled like a baby, of course. Those who know me won't be surprised. However, I ended up being glad I watched it because I actually enjoyed the movie and tears are cathartic. Of course, it took about four hours for my eyes to stop stinging, which made writing more difficult, but you take the bitter with the SWEET. Right? (:

SWEET REVENGE is coming along much better now. I think the "Quiet Man" is finally seeing that if he'll just cooperate, there's a long and bright future ahead for him with the woman he adores. Yay for Dylan!

I continue to get wonderful emails from readers who have enjoyed LAST CHANCE and from several who waited until the entire CHANCE trilogy was out so they could read them back to back. Thank you all. Reading the emails definitely inspires me to write more books!

And, just as a small plug, all CHANCE books are on sale and ready to be devoured by readers. Hope you enjoy!

So what fabulous book(s) did you read last week that you want the world to know about? I know several good ones came out last week and tomorrow is another big release day. Which ones are you dying to get your hands on? Share those too!

I'll be off-line most of the week to finish up the first draft of SWEET REVENGE. However, I will drop in and chat from time to time, so be sure to stop by and say hi!

Oh, and one extra plug. This is the last week of Brenda Novak's fabulous Auction to Benefit Diabetes's Research. If you haven't had a CHANCE to check it out, I urge you to do so. So many fabulous items to be had, whether you're a writer, reader or just want something fantastic. It's a great opportunity to help a very worthwhile cause too. Here's the link:

Hope you'll go by and check out the incredible array of awesome items. I'm donating all six of the Last Chance Rescue books, signed and personalized, to the winning bidder. Here's the link:

Okay, that's it for me. Your turn! Tell us what fab book we need to be reading and have a wonderful week!

I am glad you are getting a lot of writing done Christy - means lots of books for us to look forward to!

I am in the middle of a huge book slump :(. I did finish Kimberly Killion's Her One Desire, however, and really enjoyed it. Now i am back to rereading Julie Garwood and am on Honour's Splendour.

I have your Chance trilogy and Karen Rose's Silent Scream in my pile but before i start them i want to be in the perfect mood for them. This will sound crazy but in a way I know they will get me out of a slump but on the other hand I so really really want to enjoy them I do not want to mar them with my mood.

Happy Monday Everyone!
I've been on a Gerard bender lately and just started Show No Mercy last night. I'm really enjoying the BOIs. :-)

And, oh Christy. I read My Sister's Keeper back when I was in a book club. It's one of those books where it was really good but I never want to read it again. :-P I heard they changed the ending for the movie, but I refuse to watch the movie, so...

I'm so glad teh D-man is shaping up! YAY!!

I'm feeling a bit better this morning after getting hit with a bad bug late Saturday. My boys are wonderful and babied me to pieces. I'd say I'm back to about 85%, so I'm here at my desk hoping Monday will be nice to me.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi all

I went to the used book store & I found new, unread copies of:
One Last Breath- Laura Griffin
Heartless- Diana Palmer
On The Steamy Side -Louise Edwards

Does anyone know if the Steamy Side is steamy?

Getting Lucky & Lucky in Love by Carolyn Brown. Really enjoyed them.

Heartless-Diana Palmer -the usual

A Proper Seduction ebook by Helen Kay Dimon - enjoyed.

Chasing Perfect-Susan Mallery
Fade To Midnight-Shannon Mckenna
(big huge trade size & 490 pages
but it won't fit in my purse).

Reading: Never Too Hot- Bella Andre
Loving it.

Luci- I was in a book slump in Jan/Feb. Very frustrating. I guarantee though that Christy's books will cure that. They will get you in the mood to read again.

Hey Christy I'm happy to hear Mr. Quiet man is coming around. I'm can't wait to read his story!!

I have been a a BIG Cindy Gerard kick. Although (much to Kara's disappointment lol j/k) I read the BOI series first. In my defense I didn't realize the bodyguard series existed until I'd already read a few and then I didn't know that they connected to the BOI series until I was finished. So anyway.... I bought all of the bodyguard books and read them all in I am rereading the BOI books and can't wait to get to the newest one!!
I am going back home for 5 days this week. Flying back to Mo so I may not get as much reading done as I usually do, but I'm sure I'll squeeze some in somewhere.

Luci I hope you get out of your slump soon. I've been there myself. Hopefully its soon, because they just don't come any better than the CHANCE books that are waiting for you! They will get you addicted in no time!

Hope everyone has an amazing week of reading!

Hi Crystal - Didn't you just love the last bodyguard book? Amy & Dallas of Into the Dark? Have you ever read this subject of her past dealt in such an amazing way?

Over the weekend, my daughter had her last dance competition of the season. The entire company did well, and she won her solo category (again! yay!). It was exhausting!

Last week I read "What I Did for Love" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I am currently reading "Risk No Secrets" by Cindy Gerard. Both are fave authors of mine. "What I Did For Love" was a good read, but not one of my favorites. If anyone is following Cindy's BOI series, it is quite awesome. "Risk No Secrets" pulls you in from the first paragraph.

I'm anxiously awaiting Dylan's story (I've read all the others...all were truly fab) and I'm so glad the quiet man is finally cooperating.

Crystal (cmac) said...

Glad your feeling better Ronlyn!
I just finished Show No Mercy...sigh...I love Gabe! It was even better the second time I read it! So far it is my favorite Gerard book of all! Hope Monday is very good to you!

Crystal (cmac) said...

I loved that book! She is an AMAZING woman! I was in awe of her in Ethan and Darcy's book. Cindy definitely has a gift!

krisgils33 said...

Mary G - I TOTALLY agree with you on Amy/Dallas. I'm also glad to hear you liked the Lucky boys from Carolyn Brown. I was debating on whether or not I wanted to read them, but I think you pushed me off the fence on that one! "Fade to Midnight" was really good (IMHO).

Hi all!
This week I finished Risk No Secrets and See Jane Score. Definitely recommend them both. Right now I'm about half way through Open Season by Linda Howard and The Trouble with Valentine's Day by Rachel Gibson. They are both SO fun!
Ronlyn, glad you're feeling better. Being taken care of by the guys is always nice. :)
Mary, I liked On the Steamy Side. Did you read the first one? OK, I just asked out of curiosity, not checking up on you. LOL
Crystal, at least you've corrected your mistake. :) You can never read Gerard's book too many time anyway, huh? After reading Risk No Secrets, I'm strongly considering rereading them myself.
Christy, glad things seem to be shaping up for your book. Very SWEET of your characters to finally shape up and fly right.

Mary G said...

Hi Kara LOL
I had no plans to buy the Louisa Edwards book. It was there, new & I couldn't resist. Is it a series? I can wait & get the first one if so. Not going to read it yet anyway.

Hi Krisgils
I did enjoy Brown's books. I have to find the middle book now. I loved all the characters but the kids stole the show in Getting Lucky.

Jane said...

Ooh, I also read "Risk No Secrets." I can't wait for Doc's story. I also read "Our Little Secret" by Starr Ambrose. It was my first book by this author and I will look for her other books.

Aly said...

I did some reading this weekend but not as much as I had hoped!

I finally got to finish Gerard's Risk No Secrets It was yummy good! :) Jane, I am with you about wanting Doc's story!

I also reread Rose's You Can't Hide and Count to Ten in my prep for Silent Scream

I also started my Couch to 5K running program! I haven't died yet so I guess that is a good thing...

Ronlyn, I am glad that you are almost back to 100%! Being sick sucks but it is so much worse when it takes away your weekend!

Mary, I thought On the Steamy Side was good. And definitely say that you need to read the first one!

Christy, glad that the D Man is starting to obey! Just make sure he doesn't become too SWEET!

Hi Christy,
We didn't have a very good Sunday with the horses racing other than that we had a good weekend.

Right now I am reading Coming Home by Mariah Stewart, not my usual genre but I loved her suspense books and did tell her that I would give it a try. Even though it is a romance it has her same characters. I also finished Linwood Barclay's Too Close to Home.He had me guessing until the end. This week I also read Karen Rose's I Can See You, that was a great didn't want to put it down book. Next up is either Brenda Novak's Stop Me or Karen Rose's Silent Scream.

Christy Reece said...

Ida, you are one busy lady! Hope you get a CHANCE to read soon. (:

LOL. Luci, that's so SWEET! Rereading old favorites is a sure way to get over a slump. I LOVED Honor's Splendor-one of my favorite Garwoods. Bet that'll work for you. Hope you enjoy the CHANCE trilogy when you read it. And I've heard fabulous things about Silent Scream already. I cannot wait until I'm past my deadline so I can dig into my stack of must-reads. It's going to be one of the first! Enjoy all the great reads ahead of you!

Ronlyn, I need to do a reread of all of Cindy's books (Yes Kara, I'll read them in order. Promise!) Silly question, but what does BOI stand for? I can't remember!

On My Sister's Keeper. I read the first three chapters of the book...I love Picoult's writing, but I put it down. I could see whatever happened, it wasn't going to give me that warm, cozy HEA I wanted. And I don't usually watch sad movies either. LOL. My eyes are just now getting back to normal. Glad you're feeling better! So wonderful to have your boys there to baby you!

Mary, wow! You got some good reads ahead of you! Good for you. And thanks for the comment on my CHANCE trilogy! You're such a SWEETheart.

Crystal, hope you have a fabulous trip. Enjoy the hot and sultry weather!

And sounds like lots of rereads going on for Gerard's books, which is always fun! I can't wait to get started on my own. And thank you so much for your comments on my CHANCE trilogy! Another SWEETheart!

Kris, how very cool about your daughter's dance competition. I'll bet that is so much fun to watch and a wonderful 'proud mama' moment! Sounds like you had some good reads too. And thanks for your kind words on my glad you're looking forward to Dylan's book. And quite honestly, I'm looking forward to finishing it. A cast of stubborn characters to be sure!

Kara, you definitely had some great luck in reading too. So glad you're enjoying Open Season. I love the scene with the puppy and his underwear! And I can't say my characters are flying right but at least they're flying!

Jane, thanks for the recommend. I think Ambrose is a new recommend for us! Yay!

Aly, good luck on your running program. Running used to be one of my favorite things to do. Sigh, now I just run after my characters! And no way is Dylan going to become too SWEET. However, I would like him to SWEETen up just a bit!

Maria, sounds like you've had good luck on your reads too. I've heard great things about Coming Home. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. And you can't go wrong with Rose or Novak. Enjoy!

Hope everyone had a good Monday and that you have an even better Tuesday. I'm off to watch Dylan and Jamie glare at each other as they try to deny their feelings. (:

BOI means "Black Ops Inc.", Nate Black is the owner.

Yesterday, Susan Mallery posted a question on FB asking what fun thing happened over the weekend. I told her about the dance competition and how the dads from our studio competed in a dance. It was hilarious! She asked about video, which has since gone up on youtube and Susan re-posted to her website and sent to Ellen! Way cool. If you get a chance, check out "Who's Your Dadddy"!

Hi Everyone and Happy Tuesday! I'm a day late. I got a chance to read Cindy Gerard's "Risk No Secrets" and loved it. Of course, Wyatt, with all that southern charm, has been a favorite of mine from the beginning of the BOI series. And Cindy didn't disappoint. I'm anxiously awaiting Doc's story now b/c he is my other favorite in this series. From the teaser Cindy offered up, sounds like it will be delish as well.

@ Mary - if you can find "Can't Stand the Heat" to read before "On The Steamy Side", I would definitely recommend it but it isn't a prerequisite. I just like my ducks in a row (like someone else we all know and love). Both books have steam and I like Louisa Edwards's writing style for contemporary romance.

I'm getting ready to begin reading "Silent Scream" by Karen Rose now. She's always good for a chilling read and we've waited a long time for David's story to finally be told.

Christy, I hope the Quiet Man is talking this bright and sunny Tuesday morning!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Thanks Kris, for the BOI explanation. And how very cool that Susan Mallery sent the video of the dad's dancing to Ellen. Be sure to let us know if it airs!

Oklanannie, enjoy Silent Scream. I have it and Cindy's new one coming from Amazon but won't open the box until I'm through with this book. Just can't resist the temptation! They'll be my SWEET REWARD for finishing.

Dylan's behaving but he's about to get very upset. Sigh...One of the perks of my job. (:

Sorry, so late. I got in a few books this week. Linda Howards "To Die For", "Mackenzie's Honr" and Shannon Mckenna's "Standing in the Shadows". All good reads. Yesterday, I grabbed Lisa Kleypas' "Married by Morning", it is Leo's book and I am loving it! It is a Must read. If you have been keeping up with her Hathaways series then you won't be disappointed in the least. I have to agree with our beloved KK on this one. For the full enjoyment of the book, I would start from the begining of the series or you will DEFINATELY miss some good laughs. :)

Good afternoon everyone!

Sorry for the late reply!

I enjoyed reading last week "The Killing Edge" by Heather Graham, "The Widow" and "Cold River" both by Carla Neggers.

Christy Reece said...

Jackie, McKenzie's Honor-was that the two books in one featuring Zane and Maris?

Standing in the Shadows was a great book, although, and maybe because it was my first Shannon McKenna, but Behind Closed Door remains my favorite of hers.

Christy Reece said...

Hey PRSR (Hope you don't mind the letters) Thanks for the recommends. I don't think we've had these particular books recommended so yay for more books to add to our list!

Jackie P said...

Mackenzie's Honor is the two books with Zane and Chance. And Yes, " Behind Closed Doors" was a good one.
I just got Maris' story in the book "Christmas Kisses". Can't wait for the others.
