Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

How was your week and weekend? For those of you who experienced Irene's wrath, how did you fare? I'm so glad it wasn't as bad as many had feared but looks like it still did substantial damage and unfortunately there was loss of life. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. I'm hoping and praying that hurricanes are over for the year. Even though the peak isn't until September 10, hopefully they'll die out in the middle of the ocean and leave us in peace.

Over the weekend, my family and I celebrated my mom's birthday. It was a rare treat to have both my sisters and my mom together. We went to see The Help, which was so very fabulous, then had a delicious dinner at Outback Steakhouse, then came back to my house for cake and coffee. Just a wonderful and SWEET time with family.

Last week I did a bit more promo planning and worked on a new proposal. I love meeting new characters--that's one of the most exciting parts of writing for me. And I so enjoy creating new stories and new worlds. That brings me to some bitterSWEET news. Several of you have asked if there will be more Last Chance Rescue books. I've put off answering until I knew for sure, but now I can reveal that SWEET REWARD will be the last book in the LCR series. I had hoped to be able to launch a new series with some of the secondary characters that I never got the chance to write about, but that's not going to happen either. Who knows what the future holds though--maybe at some point, I can do something with these characters, but for right now, I'm headed in a different direction.

So what's the SWEET part of this news? Well, I am working on something else and though I can't tell you what that is yet, I can tell you that it's a romantic suspense series. I'm already in love with my characters and storylines. Yay! As soon as I can share something with you, I promise, I will.

Tomorrow, as you'll recall, was supposed to be release day for SWEET JUSTICE. But then the release date was pushed back a week. However, I did promise that I would have a giveaway to take the sting out of having to wait one more week. So, tomorrow, be sure to drop back by for your chance to win a signed copy of SWEET JUSTICE.

Which brings me to next week. Tuesday, September 6 is the release of SWEET JUSTICE. I'll be having an all day release day party. Lots of prizes and books up for grabs, so be sure to mark your calendar!

After September 6, I'll start the month long giveaway I told you about. Everyday, from September 7 to the release of SWEET REVENGE on October 4, I'll be giving away a book, maybe two. I have lots of fabulous books I picked up at the national conference this past June, many of them signed. So be sure to check here everyday to see what's up for grabs!

This week I'm planning on continuing work on my new project as well as working on some upcoming guest blogs. As soon as I nail down locations and times for all of them, I'll let you know. Also, don't forget that the incredibly talented Marie Force will be here on Thursday, September 1 to chat about her awesome Fatal series and all of her upcoming releases. And she's generously offered to give away a PDF file of her entire Fatal series to one lucky commenter! Wow! Don't miss this opportunity!

No recommends from me today. I'm reading a bit here and there but when I'm focusing on a new project, I have problems concentrating on anyone else's story but mine. I'm hoping to complete my proposal this week and at least read a few more books before a new deadline hits.

Okay, that's it for me. Hope you have a fabulous day and don't forget to come by tomorrow for a chance to win a signed copy of SWEET JUSTICE!

Now, tell us what great books you're recommending this week!

Happy Monday everyone! I pray everyone that was in Hurricane Irene's path is okay with little or no damage. Aly I am keeping all your family and friends in my thoughts and prayers! Kris glad you didn't get blown away!
I had a roller coaster kind of week last week. I have been waiting for my cousin to move to Ft. Carson forever it seems like and FINALLY they will be headed this way on Wednesday! The same day they got their orders my mother in law found out she would NOT be coming out here for a job they cancelled her contract so that was a bummer and to top it off some *$$*^%@ decided to slash two of my brand new tires... I'm still a little steamed...BUT I did have a great week in the reading department!
I read the second book in the Hathaway series. Seduce me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas. It was a good book and I'm looking forward to the next.
Then I read all three Jennifer Ashley books in the Highland Pleasure series.... The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie was absolutely fabulous!! He wasn't your typical everyday type hero. He had some issues that labeled him as a madman. He had to overcome sooo much and Beth was the perfect match for him! LOVED this book!
The second was Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage. I enjoyed this one as well, but I like the other two best. The third book The Many Sins of Lord Cameron.. Just excellent! Cam had demons of his own to overcome. I can't wait for Hart's book to come out!!
Hope everyone has a fabulous week! I turn 30! I wonder what happened to all the 20's! lol
Christy!!! It is almost RELEASE DAY!!!!!! WOOO HOOOO

Christy I just went back and reread your blog.... I'm sad..... No more LCR books that should be illegal! BUT I can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next!

Thanks Crystal! So sweet of you think of me!!! Thanks also to Christy and some of the other gals who expressed concern over our welfare last week with first the earthquake and then the hurricane. Your kindness is truly appreciated!

Christy, I'm totally sad that there won't be anymore LCR books, but have no doubt that whatever the future holds for your books, we will all absolutely love them! :-)

Recommends for me this week:
Only Mine, Susan Mallery. Every book in the Fool's Gold series is a winner.
Beg for Mercy, Jami Alden. I've been trying to stick to more of the happy books with all that's been going on, but this book is soooo good. I've got a bit to go before I finish, but definitely recommend it!
I read one other, but it will be referred to as "the book that shall not be named". such a disappointment!!!

We're off to SanFran on Wed for that last vacation before school. My master plan is to read many, many books, but if history repeats, there will be minimal reading!

I am in the middle of my school break so I did a lot of reading last week. My recomendation list includes the Heart of a Killer (releasing in October) by Jaci Burton,The Goblin King by Shona Husk(releasing in October),Money Honey from Susan Sey,Sweet Kiss of Summer from Sophie Gunn,Black Ties and Lullabies by Jane Graves,Straight to the Heart by Bobby Hutchinson,Burning Up by Susan Andersen, Cold Sight Leslie Parrish,Midnight Sins by Lora Leigh (This one is a toss up for recommending it, if you can get past the lack of editing, the overall story is good), and I'm currently half way through Karen Robards Justice. Have a wonderful week everyone

Good morning Christy! I weathered the Irene with my sister and her family (and couple bottles of wine) and am very happy to say that we survived with only a leak in the family room and and one downed tree. :) It could have been much worse..the scariest part was the tornado in Lewes, DE which is so close to me.
WOW lots of news today!! I too am sad that the LCR series is ending but happy that you are working on something new and exciting for us! I'm SO looking forward to Thursday with MARIE FORCE! I love her books! They are my keeper shelf right next to yours.
Last week I read Don't Mess With Texas by Christie Craig! I loved it and recommend it. I also reread and highly recommend Love at First Flight by Marie Force.
And Happy belated Birthday to your mom. I'm glad you a such a fun time :)

First let me say that I am totally bummed that there are only 3 more LCR books, but I also want to congratulate you on the success of your first series. LCR was my first RS trip and it is now one of my favorite genres, and I owe that to you.

This week is inservice week for teachers, to get ready for school. So Keith is back to work, but I have one more week with Jordan before he heads to the 8th grade.

I had a few good reads last week. Julie Garwood's Heartbreaker. This was my first JG. It was a little slow for me, just not being used to her writing style...but when it picked up...shew, it picked up. I really liked it.

I also finished Luke by Cheyenne McCray. I really love this Armed and Dangerous series. Such a great mix of suspense and spicy.

I finished the Virgin River series with Harvest Moon. I kept putting this book off for some reason, but I really liked it. Robyn told me that she plans 3 more in this series to be released in late Spring and Summer....YAY.

Have a wonderful week everyone!!

Is it Monday again already?

My thoughts are with those of you who faced the wrath of Irene. So glad to know you are safe but the pics are frightening. And Crystal, I'm sorry that some creep slashed your new tires - I don't understand what causes people to do the hateful things they do.

Christy, I'm going to miss those LCR books & characters more than you'll ever know. But I am looking forward with much anticipation to hearing what's coming from you. And a new RS series comes as much welcomed news -- especially one written by you!!

As for my recommendations this week: DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS by Christie Craig. Absolutely one of the best ever! It is a riot and just plain old fun to read. I can't recommend it highly enough. I also read Jennifer Ashley's "The Many Sins of Lord Cameron." Great addition to the "Highland Pleasures" series. Just like Crystal, I can't wait to get Hart's story! Anyone who loves historicals - this is a must series in my opinion.

Hoping everyone has a great week with lots of good books to read!

Hi everyone,
I hope all of you came out ok after "Irene" hit the U.S. - I am really glad it wasn´t as bad as the weather forcast told - no "Catrina" - but every life lost is one too much.

Christy - that`s sad news -no more LCR books , but I am sure the next books will be as thrilling as the LCR books. Looking forward to hear more about it.
And happy birthday to your mom - I can imagine that you had a great time with your mom and sisters.
I have two younger sisters - and its been ages since we were all together at the same time.

Crystal, have a wonderfull birthday - turning thirty means the best years are right ahead.

Still no recommends from me, but the number of the books I ordered for our holidays hit 15 with two more to be delivered and I am sure there will be some heated discussion with my hubby about the mass of luggage he has to store in our car. Its the same story every year.

Have a great week all and I hope I will have time to stop by on thursday to thank Marie Force for the signed copy of Fatal Affair Ronlyn sent to me.

Hi Everyone!

Christy - I'm sad there won't be any more LCR books, but I can't wait to meet your new characters!

This past week I read and LOVED Don't Mess with Texas, by Christie Craig. It's such a fun read! Lots of humor, action, and some steam too :)

I also read and enjoyed Deadly Dreams by Kylie Brant...I'm currently reading the last book in her MindHunters series, Deadly Sins. Its Adam Raiker's book and I'm liking it so far.

I hope everyone in Irene's path made it out ok. I know how scary hurricanes can be after experiencing Ike a few years ago.

Have a good week everyone!

Christy,

I have to say I'm bummed to hear that the sweet books will be the last books in the LCR series - what a wonderful series and characters you brought to life. With that said, I look forward to hearing about what's next and I'm glad its still in my fave genre - romantic suspense.

We were fortunate and only got rain and wind up here. Lost some tree branches, but the weather reports made it out worse than it was, for us at least, we didn't even lose power. Another reason I'm glad I live in new England, other than snow we get mild storms. My heart does go out to those that were hurt from the hurricane.

I just started reading Gina showalter this week and I'm impressed with her wit. Still on the lords of the underworld series and I like how she brought in nix from krealey cole's immortals after dark series.

I LOVE the LCR series, so I'll be sad to see them go, but I'm thrilled to see something new too. I'm so happy that I decided to pick up Rescue Me on a whim based on the cover because I really enjoyed the whole series and reread them several times. I'm looking forward to getting the new one on my kindle next week!

Hope all is well with everyone and no one suffered great damage with Irene. We got hit but it wasn't as bad as they expected, or me. I guess because I was born and raised in South Florida, so I'm use to it.

I knew it! I had a feeling LCR was coming to an end! I hate to see it end but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

I see a few people read Jennifer Ashley's books this past week. I am struggling with it. I know I need to give it more time but I just can't seem to get into it. I must have read 5 books since starting that one.

Let's see, I read Only Mine by Susan Mallery. It was good. I don't know why I like rekindled love/old flames reunited stories with babies involved but those themes just do it for me. I need to find more like that but it's kind of hard to. I also read Chasing Perfect by her as well.

I read Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James. That was my first read by her. It was good but I need more romance. :) The bantering between the two characters was great! Laugh out loud funny!

I also read Sizzle By Sea by Wynter Daniels. It's a new series by this author, not bad either. I have bought books by her in the past just haven't gotten to them yet.

I just started The Duke And I by Julia Quinn today and I already like it.

I can't wait until next week! Not only does school start on the 6th but it's release day!!! Hours of uninterrupted reading! Is it wrong for me to be happy that school starts the day the new SWEET book is released? LOL

Glad to hear everyone is getting thru Irene...

I am so bummed to hear that LCR is coming to an end... But it's best to go out on top... And I am so excited to hear you are starting something new!! I am positive it will be as awesome as LCR!!

I just finished Taken by Midnight by Lara Adrian. I love her stuff, and this book did not disappoint me!

Happy birthday to those celebrating!!

Hey Crystal! Good news on your cousin coming but I know you must be bummed about your mother-in-law not being able to come. And doggone those people who have nothing better to do than slash tires. I hope you checked with your insurance agent about coverage.

But at least you read some great books. And wow, you read a lot! Great recommends, too!

Happy Happy 30th birthday to you!!! The best is yet to come!

Yes! Release day is almost here! Yayayayay!!!

And thank you. It's very hard to say goodbye to the LCR characters. I've lived with them for four years and they feel like family. I will definitely miss them. Really anxious to see what's next though. (:

Christy Reece said...

Kris, I'm so glad you and yours are okay. Such a scary week!

And thank you. Saying goodbye to LCR is hard but there are more characters to meet and stories to tell. (:

Great recommends! Been hearing good things about Susan Mallery's series. And I know what you mean about Jamie Alden's Beg for Mercy. Such a good book!

Have a fabulous time in San Francisco!

Kara C said...

HUGS to you, Christy. Can't wait to see what you have planned for us next!
I just finished the latest Linda Castillo book. Definitely not a romance, but I love the series. Right now I am reading Edge of Night by Jill Sorenson, Believe in Me by Laura Moore, and Dangerous Kisses by Trisha Milburn. So far, they are all really good, although it may take me a while to finish them since school has started.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Christy Reece said...

Wow, Misty, such fabulous list of recommends! Thanks so much for sharing!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Barb! LOL Wine and hurricanes seem to go together. So glad you're okay.

Thank you for your kind words on saying goodbye to LCR but yay that you're excited about reading something else from me (:

I love Marie Force too! And she's not only extremely talented, she's one of the nicest authors I've met. I'm blessed to call her my friend.

Yay on Christie Craig's new book! I've heard great things about it already. I downloaded it to my Kindle and am looking forward to getting started.

Thanks so much for your b'day wishes for my mom. One of the gifts I gave her was a signed copy of SWEET JUSTICE. I think she liked it. (:

Christy Reece said...

Hi Hope. Thanks so much for those words. Saying goodbye to LCR is hard but I love that you started reading romantic suspense with my books. That means so much.

I loved Julie Garwood's Heartbreaker. And actually, I give that book credit as an impetus for my writing romantic suspense. I was online one day and saw that Heartbreaker was coming out and the publisher was running a contest. For a chance at a signed copy of Heartbreaker, they were inviting people to write a few sentences based upon the synopsis of the book. I sent my sentences in and won a signed copy. LOL I took that as a sign I should be a writer. (:

Oh, I'm looking into Cheyenne McCray's series. Sounds very good!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Anne! Thanks so much. I so appreciate your love for LCR but very happy you're looking forward to a new romantic suspense series from me.

So glad you enjoyed Christie's new book. I'm anxious to get started on it!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Elke! Thanks so much for your kind words on LCR. And thank you for wanting to read another series from me.

Thank you for the birthday wishes for my mom. My sisters, my mom and I don't get to see each other as often as we'd like. Being together was such a special time. Lots of laughs!

Wow, you have got some major reading to do for your holiday. Hope you love all the books!

Hope you can drop by on Thursday to chat with Marie. I know she'd love to hear from you.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Alison! Thanks so much. Glad you're looking forward to meeting my new characters!

Yay, another recommend for Christie Craig. Looks like Don't Mess With Texas is a must read!

My heart goes out to all that have been affected by the weather. We've been watching the weather maps & news even though Toronto was barely on the edge of the storm.

Aly, Kris & anyone else - keep us posted.

It's too bad about the end of LCR & unfinished stories. Maybe the characters can be the middle name of the exciting new characters so we know what happened LOL. There's always self-pubbing. You know we'd buy.

Christy Reece said...

Jennifer, thank you so much! I have loved working with these characters and creating this series. And thank you for wanting to know about the next series. Will share something as soon as I can!

Christy Reece said...

Angela, so glad you came through the storm okay.

Thanks for the recommend. I've not read Gina Showalter. Need to add her to my 'must try' list.

Thank you for loving the LCR series. I'm so glad you picked up RESCUE ME, too! I love that you've read the books several times. Rereads of my books always makes me smile. And thank you for pre-ordering SWEET JUSTICE. Hope you love it!

Christy Reece said...

Hi Taryn, glad you and yours came through the storm okay. I know you had some flooding. Hope your books are okay!

Thanks for the kind words on LCR. Hopefully there are more good things to come.

Oh, I loved The Duke and I. It's one of my favorite Julia Quinn books.

Yay for the first day of school, yay for uninterrupted reading time and yay for SWEET JUSTICE release!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Shelly, thanks so much! I'm sad to say goodbye to LCR too, but excited about writing something new. It's always fun meeting new characters and getting inside their heads--or having them get inside mine. (:

I haven't read Lara Adrian yet and know I'm missing out on something wonderful. Will add her name to my 'must try' list also.

Thanks!

Christy Reece said...

Hey KK. Thanks for the hugs. They're always welcomed!

I'm just in awe of you being able to read so many books at once. And they all sound so good.

I don't think I've read Linda Castillo. Will put her name on my 'must try' list too. Thanks!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Mary, thanks so much. I may consider self-pubbing at some point. One never knows what the future holds. And thanks for saying you'd buy them. You're a SWEETheart!
