Recommend Monday!

Good Monday Everyone!

Looking forward to hearing about all your great reads from last week. There have been some fabulous releases the last few months. Can't wait to hear about the ones you're recommending.

Thanks to everyone who came by to check out my Ella Grace website.  I sincerely appreciate your kind comments. I hope you got the chance to read the MIDNIGHT SECRETS excerpt. Also, last Friday I posted the very first Midnight Tale. Inez Peebles, the oldest resident of Midnight, wrote an interesting and informative blog about her hometown. If you didn't get to read it, here's the link: A Midnight Tale.

As promised, since the Ella Grace site is now up, the focus on this blog will be future Christy Reece books, including the upcoming LCR novella, CHANCES ARE. And to keep that promise, here's a snippet for you. The first paragraph:
CHANCES ARE
Prologue
London, England
He had been following her for days. She was young, beautiful, and deliciously unaware of anything outside of her field of vision or interest. Was there anything more enticing or tempting? Without a doubt, she had no clue that her life was about to make a hairpin turn and dead end abruptly.

I'll try to share a few lines every couple of weeks. I've so enjoyed getting back to the LCR gang. Both Angela and Jake have surprised and delighted me. I think you're going to love them as a couple. I'll soon be working on the cover and can't wait to see how that turns out. As soon as it's finalized, I'll post it here. I'm still hopeful that I'll get CHANCES ARE out to you by the end of the year.

As you know, I'm self publishing CHANCES ARE, which means it will be released as an eBook. I'm not sure yet if I'll release it as a paperback, too. Much of it depends upon what readers want. So if you wouldn't mind letting me know how you would prefer to read CHANCES ARE, I'd sincerely appreciate it. You can comment here or email me at christy@christyreece.com.

As mentioned last week, today is the beginning of a huge contest for me. I've never done this before and am quite excited about it. My website has the most hits on Monday because of this blog, however, over the last couple of months recommends have slowed considerably. I'd love to regenerate interest because even though we have only a few recommendations, many viewers come here to get good book suggestions. I want to continue that service. So, to help increase the comments and hopefully the traffic, I'm going to have a 3 month contest. Each person who recommends a book(s) will be entered into the contest. Only one entry each Monday but the more Mondays you recommend a book, the more times your name will be entered. There are 14 Mondays between now and the end of the year. That 14 times you could enter.

The drawing will take place, Monday, January 31 at 12:00 PM (CST)

Here are the prizes:

Grand prize: Kindle Fire HD.
First place prize: A signed copy of the complete Last Chance Rescue series (all 9 books)
Second place prize: $25 gift card to Amazon or Barnes and Noble

So, let's hear it for Recommend Monday! Remember, the contest starts today. And since it's a win-win for everybody, be sure to let others know about the contest. We all get great book recommendations and at the end of the year, three people will win a fabulous prize!

Okay, that's it for me. I'm headed back to Midnight. I hope you have a fabulous week. Can't wait to read your recommendations!

Hi Christy!

Love the contest idea, can't wait to see all the recs that come in.

Yesterday I did a re-read of Bared to You, by Sylvia Day to get ready for tomorrows release of Reflected in You and I loved it just as much as I did the first time! Too bad work is going to prevent me from starting Reflected as soon as I wake up :)

Right now I'm reading Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught and loving it...I plan to escape work to read a bit more over lunch.

Have a good week everyone!

Hey Alison! Thanks! I'm really hoping the contest will increase the recommends. So many great books out there to read and tell others about!

So happy you're enjoying Almost Heaven. As you may know, since I've mentioned it at least once or a thousand times, that is my favorite Judith McNaught. Sigh...love Ian!

Hey Christy!
Since I have some time on my hands, I know I will finally be able to stop by on Mondays! Despite my impossibly tall TBR mountain, I'm always looking for good reads.
Right now I am reading Seduction and Snacks...and laughing out loud. It is funny, sweet, and wildly inappropriate at times, but I'm guaranteed at least a smile, if not a laugh out loud moment, every time I pick it up.

I'll be sure to share your great contest with friends!

Hi Christy, hi Everyone!
It looks like the contest is already working Christy - great idea!
Love your Ella Grace website and enjoyed the first Midnight tale -I have jet to figure out how to leave a comment - I tried several times but it didn´t work ( probably because I am no good with computers, but I won´t give up)

I read some great books this week:
"The Past Came Hunting" by Donnell Ann Bell ( a new to me author),
"Softly At Sunrise" - Maya Banks` latest KGI novella featuring Ethan and Rachel - loved to read more about the Kelly Family) and "Black Creek Burning" by R.T. Wolfe, also a new to my author - I will absolutely search for more of her books.

Christy - I really hope Chances are will be released via Amazon Germany as an e-book as well. Good luck for your writing cave.

Have a great week Everyone!

Hey Christy,
I know I have been remiss in posting the last few weeks. But Mondays have turned into hell days at the clinic (if big boss would stop calling everything would be peachy!).
But as for books I will go over the last three that I have read: Jayne Ann Krentz/ Jane Castle book The Lost Night: this is one of her paranormal future books and a great read. Have to love the dust bunnies! Then I read Tess Gerritsen new Rissole and Isles book Last To Die. It was okay but not as good as the last one or maybe I was expecting something more, not sure. And right now I am reading Linda Fairstein Night Watch. It is okay but moves slow in the firs 1/3 of the book, just now starting to pick up.
Now back to awaiting the next call from big boss asking if I want a manager position... Uh NO again.

Wow Christy what an amazing contest! If this doesn't motivate my reading I don't know what will. I've been in such a clump lately. BUT I did read Karen Hawkins How to Capture a Countess. Like all Karen Hawkins books it was a good book!
I don't know how I missed Midnight tales on Friday, but I loved it!

Alison is this the first time you've read Almost Heaven or is it a reread? **SIGH** I'd love to be able to go back and enjoy Judith's books for the first time again.

Alison said...

Crystal, this is my first time reading Almost Heaven, its my 4th McNaught book. So far I've read Kingdom of Heaven, Whitney My Love, and Until You. I loved them ALL!

Which book do you recommend I read next?

Not a big reading week for me. I read Playing to win by Jaci Burton, Blame it on Texas by Christie Craig, and The last victim by Karen Robards this one threw me a little, not what I was expecting. Not sure what I'm going to read next, hopefully I will get some ideas today.

Happy Reading All!

I visited the Ella Grace website last week and again, just now. I can't wait to see it grow.

I'm recommending one of my favorite books:

Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas.

You can't really lose since I like all the books in the Travises series but this one is the one I hold closest. There's a vulnerable heroine and a superb hero. There's a great elevator rescue scene.

I'm reading and recommending "Uninvited" by Heather Graham. It's part of the Krewe of Hunters trilogy. Anyone who likes ghost stories should check these books out.

Crystal said...

Alison you HAVE to read Once and Always. I'll be the first to admit there is one scene that is hard to swallow, but OH MY GOSH!!! it is probably my favorite. (It's close between it and Almost Heaven)

LOVED Almost Heaven! I'll move Once and Always up. I'll have to read it on a weekend, these McNaught books suck me in and I'm worthless! All I want to do is read!

Hi Christy! I am so excited and can not wait to read your two upcoming releases. I read the excerpt to MIDNIGHT SECRETS and it sounds really good.

I just read an ebook called ON DUBLIN STREET by Samantha Young and highly recommend it.

hey guys! i check in every week but was motivated to post at this late hour by the rockin' givaways. i'm reading pamela clares "skin deep" and loving it, as i do every book of hers that i've read. i have a huge tbr list on my nook, thanks to you guys.

christie i'm excited that you will be doing some self publishing. i have become so addicted to my nook. so of course i will be thrilled to purchase an ebook. (this coming from a person that loves actual books, go figure.)

have a great week everyone!

Crystal said...

That is exactly how I am every time I read them. Even after rereading them as much as I have. She is an amazing author. Let me know how you like Once and Always!

First of all, I would love to have a print copy of Chances Are for my "keeper" shelf. Although I love to read e-books, I still keep up my bookcase in prep for the apocalypse. ;o)

I read an absolutely fabulous m/m romantic suspense last week called The Island by Lisa Henry. It's a bit harsh, but so good. Really emotional!! (and I'm crying because it's not available in print...only e-book...another one I want for my keeper shelf.) smiles....

Anyway I can get the book in my hands is the way I will take it.
Seduction and Snacks was hilarious. Karen Hawkins "How to Capture a Contess". I know there is more I just can't think of them at the moment.
