Thanks so much for all the responses yesterday. Sorry I didn't get to respond to all of them. Went running around with hubby and didn't get back until late. Will try to catch all your answers today.
Also, I'm adding an additional prize to the grand prize:
$25 gift card to Books A Million!
New question:
WHAT ROMANCE BOOK HAVE YOU READ MORE THAN ONCE?
Same rules as before, one entry, per person, per day.
I'll get us started. I have about ten that I reread over and over again, usually every year. The one that comes to mind right now is McKenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard. One of my all time favorite books by one of my all time favorite authors.
How about you?
49 comments:
Just one? Mine is a Linda Howard as well...Mr. Perfect! YUMMMMYYYY :)
But I also read the Chesapeake Bay series by Nora over and over!
Colter's Woman by Maya Banks. I LOVE that book.
Thursday's Child by Sandra Brown
The Prize by Julie Garwood.
LOL. I know it's hard to name just one. And Linda Howard's books always seem to be on my rereads more than just about any other author. Mr. Perfect is a wonderful book. I think my other all time favorite of hers would be Dream Man. That's a multiple reread for me too!
I read Coulters' Woman. That is one steamy read!
Sarah, I'm sure I read Thursday's Child since I've read most of Sandra Brown's. She's an amazing storyteller. One of my favs of hers is Play Dirty. Wonderful characters and very different plot!
Love Julie Garwood and The Prize is a great read. I think The Bride and there's one other...the title escapes me right now. It's where he takes her hostage as revenge against her brother and things are not as they seem. It's a multiple reread for me and can't believe I can remember the title!
Mine is Gone to Far by Suzanne Brockmann. Sam Starrett! Be still my heart! Plus Alyssa Lock is a no BS kinda woman. I love the chemistry! I'll agree with all you ladies on Linda Howard I have her books broke in well also! Have a good day!
Breaking Point by Suzanne Brockmann
Love Gone Too Far!
True story: I was working at Border's as a bookseller when that book was about to come out. Bookstores often get ARCs (Advanced Reader's Copy) and we got an ARC of GTF about a month before the release. I cried. I literally cried because I was so happy. LOL. I took it to the RWA conference that year and asked her sign it for me. Was a total fan girl moment!
Hi Purvis, Suzanne Brockmann is an amazing storyteller. Breakpoint another wonderful read!
Flame & the Flower of course.
Dream A little Dream - SEP
Parts of Sweet Restraint by Beth Kery for the beautiful language (not just the sex LOL) & parts of your books.
I love to read. I am at 191 books for the year, my problem is i usually can not pick up a book to reread without the entire story flashing in my head so i just skim my favorite parts. But thier is a few books that i have reread. One is Holiday Inn by Phillis Bourne Williams, Ferrah Rochon, &Stefanie Worth. A wonderful must read for everyone!
Mary, all great reads!
And SEP is one of my all time favorite authors. She has an amazing ability to take characters who aren't perfect and make you love them as if they were your family. A wonderfully talented lady.
Ida, I'll have to check these out. Never heard of them before but they must be great for you to reread them. That's one of the ultimate compliments to an author to know that readers love their books so much they read them again and again. LOL. I have a seemingly endless amount of those.
Pride and Prejudice and as a bonus I pop in the DVD w/Colin Firth for some good old fashioned ogling!
Lulu, you are definitely a true romantic. I haven't seen the one with Coin Firth in it but I so need to. I really never sighed over him until I saw Bridget Jones's Diary. Absolutely loved him after that!
Hey Christy,
After considering how to answer today's question, I now fully understand why my TBR pile is so large! Apparently, I reread as many favorite books as I read new ones! lol
I have a few very loved authors' who all have series I go back to time and time again - Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series is always playing in my car. The guy that does the audio of it has those characters down! You can't go wrong with Cindy Gerard's Bodyguard series, which starts with To the Edge, or her Black Ops series starting with Show No Mercy. Then there's that whole Last Chance series...
Have a great day. Lunchtime is over for me. Back to work.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips' "This Heart of Mine" b/c I just love the blurbs at the beginning of each chapter by Daphne the Bunny and Benny the Badger! This story just touched my heart from beginning to ending.
And Suzanne Brockmann's first mainstream "Heart Throb"
And Heather Graham's civil war trilogy "One Wore Blue", "And One Wore Gray" and "One Rode West"
And Laura Moore's "In Your Eyes" (who hasn't had a book out since 2004 but has a new trilogy coming in January 2010!).
I warned you I can't just pick one!
Kara, I know what you mean. My closet is so full of books and many I've not read, but sometimes the comfort of an old friend is exactly what I need and that means going back to a much loved book.
Have you read Pamela Clare's romantic suspense? I think she's awesome too. One of my favorites is Unlawful Contact, but I must admit a preference for the hero in Hard Evidence. Try them if you haven't already. I know you'll love them.
Oklanannie, I know. Narrowing it down to just one is too hard and cruel. There are so many wonderful books out there. And on Suzanne Brockmann's Heart Throb, absolutely loved it. But I must say that my favorite of her books is, I believe, a Harlequin. Letters to Kelly. Have you read it? I just thought it was wonderfully romantic!
The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt. Love that book. :)
Crystal, The Raven Prince is yet another that's been sitting in my TBR pile. Moving it closer to the top as well. Oh my, it's about to tip over!
Wow. This is a tough question because I have re-read a bunch of favorite books, including a few of yours. I will concur with the group on Suz Brockmann - I have re-read her troubleshooter series books more than once. Some other ones are: Susan Elizabeth Phillips' It had to be you, Julie Garwood's Killjoy, Tara Janzen's Crazy Cool and Deidre Martin's Fair Play.
Jennifer, I think there are some books that just have to be reread to savor. Many of Suzanne Brockmann's books are like that.
Other favorite authors I reread are of course Linda Howard, then there's Julie Garwood, SEP and one that's not been mentioned who I absolutely adore is Judith McNaught. Almost Heaven is in my top ten favorites of all time.
Oh and that Julie Garwood I couldn't remember the title is Honor's Splendor. Just an absolutely wonderful read!
My fav is Now You See Her by you guessed it,Linda Howard! And
anything by Brenda Jackson.
Letters to Kelly still makes me tear up to this very day! It was a Silhouette Intimate Moments, and as you've probably guessed I own a copy*sigh*. Jax and Kelly are wonderful.
Christy, I realized I never responded to you about the message board thing! But a Yahoo Group is exactly what I mean. It could be really fun and interesting.
There are so many books I read over and over again. I love Rachel Gibson's See Jane Score and SEP's This Heart of Mine and Kiss an Angel.
Another favorite is Hard Evidence by Pamela Clare. Also, I am a huge fan of Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series. I must have read those books a million times.
Christy, I love Judith McNaught's books, as well. Although her historicals are some of the best I've ever read, my favorites are her contemps, "Perfect" and "Paradise".
I also agree with you on Julie Garwood. Once again, I like her contemps starring the Buchanan brothers. My favorite is "Heartbreaker".
By the way, I noted today on the Barnes & Noble website that Judith McNaught's next book has once again been rescheduled for publication in March 2011.
Great topic today!
I have reread the historicals of Julie Garwood and Lisa Kleypas many times. I just reread Julie's "Saving Grace" and "The Gift."
I love both Julian and Marc but I loved the way Julian fell in love. He was so in denial and was so absolutely wonderful about it. Both of them are absolutely wonderful though. Can't wait for the one coming out next year. Pamela Clare is absolutely wonderful and on my must buy list the day of release.
Kim, love Now You See Her! Linda is so incredibly original in her storylines.
A Yahoo group would be fun. I'll definitely check into that! Thanks for the suggestion.
Alexandra, sounds like we have a lot of the same favorites too. And I adore SEP's Kiss An Angel. I need to get that one out and do a reread. It's been a while.
Oklanannie, I adore Judith McNaught, historical or contemporary. Perfect and Paradise are are wonderful. But so are Almost Heaven, A Kingdom of Dreams, Once and Always. LOL. I could go on!
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. McNaught at an RWA conference once and it was the highlight of the conference for me. What a lovely person.
Hey Jane, I can't believe I haven't mentioned Lisa Kleypas. She's marvelous. One of my favorite of hers is Lady Sophia's Lover. I adore her characters.
LOL. I think I need to write a book called Absolutely Wonderful. Just realized I've used that phrase about 100 times today!
well, Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner :)
since i'm not so into romance before, more to Romantic suspense and paranormal. yum
OK, I've totally messed up the flow of the discussion with my deletions! I took out my message to add something to it but before I reposted it you had answered the first post! Should have probably listened to my 9 year old this morning when he suggested we sleep in late and pretend it was Saturday!
I'm definitely going to read Hard Evidence again now just to check out Julian! lol
Hey Mariska, I've not read Good in Bed. I remember it came out when I was still at Borders. It was a huge seller. Had lots of people asking for it. Adding to my list!
Kara, you are too funny. Feel free to post as much as you like. I love hearing from you.
I can't believe I forgot to mention Judith Mcnaught in my previous post. One of my all time favorite characters is Matt Farrell from Paradise. I also love her historical books, and I agree with Christy that Almost Heaven tops the list.
Jennifer, I just think Judith McNaught's romances are just so romantic. I have never closed one of her books without a smile and a sigh. And Ian in Almost Heaven is the ultimate romantic hero.
Christy, I am not sure where you can find it. I picked it up at our Local Dollar Tree.
(YAY! everything is a dollar) It is 3 short stories by the Authors I have in my first post. and the back reads:::::
The Holidays are far from magical when your relationship is on the rocks. But with a seductive setting and some Christmas spirit, three couples have a chance to rekindle the spark of romance.:::: I guess what i love about it is it's the Men trying to save the marriages. Wonderful Book!
I can't believe I forgot Tara Janzen! Her whole Crazy and Loose series. But the two I reread the most are Crazy Kisses and Crazy Love.Kid&Nikki, Dylan&Skeeter are I think my favs, it changes!Tara has a new release next year JT's story!
Hey Ida, thanks for that. I'll be on the lookout for it!
Kim, you're right. Tara Jantzen is fabulous too!
This is from Alice who couldn't get in her post yesterday:
RUNAWAY by Bobbi Smith
Any of Julie Garwoods books. I love everything she writes. Most of Nora Roberts and Christine Feehan too as well as JR Ward.
