Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

Happy belated Independence Day to America! How was your weekend? Mine was fabulous! Yesterday, I spent the entire day with my family and had such a good time. And, oh man, did I eat! Lots of barbeque, veggies and decadent desserts. Feeling a bit hung over this morning--hence the late blog. But oh, it was wonderful.

Have to admit I was celebrating a bit more than usual. SWEET REVENGE went to my editor on Thursday, July 1. Yay!!!!!! Whew! This one was a close one for me. Thankfully, the Quiet Man and my spirited heroine decided they were ready to share their love story with the world. What a relief! Now, to wait, with fingers crossed, that my editor loves it too!

And SWEET JUSTICE is really taking shape in my mind. The synopsis is almost done and I have to say, I'm so in love with my new hero, Seth Cavanaugh, that I've been sighing an awful lot lately. He made me fall in love with him and cry on the very first page. My heroine, Honor Stone, is such a good match for him. Both are strong, courageous and stubborn. I can't wait to see the massive fireworks that are going to explode between them very soon!

So what great books are you recommending this week? I'm reading two books at once! Amazing feat for a non-multi-tasker. I'm reading Marie Force's Fatal Affair and really enjoying it! This is a reunion romance and will be an on-going series with the main couple being the same for each book. Really looking forward to seeing what Marie's cooking up next for them. Also, I'm reading Monica McCarty's The Chief and am loving it! Has anyone read it yet?

What about you? What have you read? What are you reading? What do you think others should read?

Oh, and in between reading and writing, I'm also counting down the days to the RWA National Convention in Orlando. I leave on July 27 and am so looking forward to it. If you're in that area on Wednesday, July 28, the literacy signing would be a wonderful place to visit. About 500 authors converge for one major signing to benefit literacy. If you're able to make it, be sure to stop by my table and say hi!

Okay, that's it for me. Going to take a long walk and visit with Honor and Seth, then do a bit of reading.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

We had a fab time in DC for the parade and fireworks. I got sunburned at the parade, and actually went for a swim in the hotel pool! The fireworks were excellent as always. We are already back home to the fun chores of grocery shopping and laundry!

Last week I read Almost Perfect by Susan Mallery, Instant Temptation by Jill Shalvis, Informed Risk by Robin Carr, and I'm working on Lois Lane Tells All by Karen Hawkins. Almost Perfect was really fun to read; I'm enjoying that series. Instant Temptation was the 3rd installment of the Wilder brothers and was by far my favorite. I just LOVED the hero and heroine. They were really fun characters with lots of chemistry.

I have no idea what I'll be reading this week. I have 70 paperback and 25 books on Kindle to read...it's actually kind of overwhelming, I want to read them all RIGHT NOW!!

Glad to hear D&J are enjoying the Big Apple and that you've let them go to move onto some new players who need you more! Enjoy your respite!

Good Morning Christy - hope you had a great 4th of July. Just wanted to stop by to let you know I just finished Dee Davis's Dark Deceptions - it was a WONDERFUL read. I can't wait to read her next in that series. I was actually turned on to Dee by Christy, so thanks Christy. She is high on my list of favorite authors. She has a great way of writing. I would recommend it to anyone who like action and romance plus a little who-done-it thrown in. It was GREAT!!!!!

Hey Kris, what a wonderful place to celebrate Independence Day! Such fun!

Looks like last week was a good reading week for you. 70 paperback and 25 Kindle books to choose from? Wow! I totally understand wanting to read them all RIGHT NOW! I've been hoarding books, waiting for an opportunity to read. Now that I have a couple of days window, I want to read about 50 of them. What a wonderful thing to be able to complain about though. So many wonderful books to look forward to. Right?

Yep, D&J are in the Big Apple hopefully enjoying themselves. Honor and Seth are getting ready for some steamy scenes. And who knows what my hero and heroine of SWEET REWARD are up to! Hope they will at least tell me their names soon! (:

Have a fabulous week, Kris!

Have a fabulous week!

Hey Christy,
'He made me fall in love with him and cry on the very first page.' Somehow, I'm not surprised. LOL I am, however, anxious to read his story!
I read Welcome to Harmony by Jodi Thomas this week. I LOVED this story, and can't wait for the next in the series. I also began an older trilogy by Catherine Mann, starting with Code of Honor. It was a lot of fun, and I've already collected the next two, to be read in order, of course. I reread both Return to Me and Run to Me this week. It's SO interesting to read them back to back, especially now knowing so much more about the characters.
Right now, I'm reading the newest Hathaway book by Lisa Kleypas, Love in the Afternoon. The series was recommended to me by Marie Force. Speaking of Marie, I can't wait to read her book! Must put that at the top of the pile.
A hope the walk with your characters goes well. No chance of a bad guy jumping out of the bushes, is there? And Orlando? Sounds like a plan!

As i had told you last Thursday was my birthday I will also tell you that my husband threw a surprise party for me for my 35th and it was fantastic! Lots of veyr cool presents too :).

I finished Lisa Kleypas' Love in the Afternoon and am now reading KAren Hawkins' Talk of the Town. Would love to read A Summer in Sonoma by Robyn Carr as i have read very good reviews and cannot wait to receive Jennifer Ashley's Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage.

Oh BTW, I am so glad you gave us the name of Honor's hero!

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great 4th! We enjoyed some really good fireworks in Sheridan. It was really pretty there with snow still on some of the mountains. Unfortunately the water pump went out on our truck so we ended up staying in a motel. The kids did not understand why they couldn't put their pj's on. lol
Anyway I actually got a lot read last week some how.
I read two by Judith McNaught A Kingdom of Dreams and Once and Always. They both were very good. I also read Barely a Lady by Eileen Dreyer, and Laura Lee Gurhrke's And then He Kissed Her. Last but not least I read Garrett by Linda Lael Miller. All were very good and would recommend them.
Christy I am so excited the deadline is over and you are able to get R&R its much needed I'm sure! I'm already excited to meet Seth! Have a good week everyone!

Congrats on finishing the book, Christy. I read Shannon McKenna's "Extreme Danger" and Christie Craig's "Divorced, Desperate and Dating." These books were awesome.

Thanks for the Fatal Affair shout out, Christy! I wonder if your Sweet Justice and my Fatal Justice will be out around the same time? LOL! Working feverishly today on Fatal Consequences, book 3. Glad to know I can still think up new challenges for my fearless couple! Hope you enjoyed the long weekend. We had the best time on my dad's boat yesterday and a total down day today, which I really needed. Glad everyone is enjoying Love in the Afternoon. I adored Lisa's Hathaway series!

Hi Christy,

I can't wait to read both of your new books!

I read 'Special Ops: The Mammoth Book of Romance'. I purchased it because Shannon K. Butcher, Cheyenne McCray and Debra Webb were among the 20 writers.
I found it to be an enjoyable and entertaining book....some of the stories were teasers that seemed to cry out for a more expansive format...
I found myself reading through my favorite Christine Feehan, 'Dark Slayer'. Ivory and Razvan...if you have not read this book, you are missing out...the book cover is gorgeous too!

I am still on my historical kick. I am still reading Julia Quinn and the new book by Kleypas "Love in the Afternoon". I have the Chief in my TBR pile but I have the new Meg Cabot "Insatiable" that I want to read next. My list grows long.

Hey Kara! So funny because I thought I already knew everything about Seth, but it was amazing that in the first paragraph of the first page I would find out just heroic and wonderful he is. I just melted! LOL And, of course, cried.

Looks like you had such good reading last week. So glad you enjoyed RETURN TO ME and RUN TO ME again. I love seeing how these characters have evolved over the past couple of years.

When I was writing SWEET REVENGE, Noah did a couple of things that really surprised me, but I realized it was a progression for him. I loved seeing him like that.

Oh, I love Lisa Kleypas! I so need to gather all her series books together and read them. And I think you'll really enjoy Marie's book. I love this couple and it has a great mystery too!

Orlando! Yes, I'm so excited!

Have a great week!

Hey Luci! Happy belated birthday!

So glad you had a happy one! How very cool of your hubby to throw you a surprise party. I love those kinds of surprises...especially when they come with gifts!

Looks like you had some good reads and you're looking forward to more this week. Don't ya just love that there's so much to choose from and such variety too?

I had a different name picked out for Seth, but changed it. Now, I'm really loving this name. He has become Seth Cavanaugh in my mind. So relieved about that. It's really hard for me to write a book when I either don't know the main character's name or I don't like it. I can't wait for everyone to meet him!

Have a great week!

Hey Crystal! How very beautiful those fireworks must have been with the majesty of the mountains behind them. And snow capped, no less! Those are the kinds of memories to treasure. The car stuff not so much, I know!

Wow, you had some luck last week with some good reads. Glad you're enjoying McNaught's books. Don't forget she has some wonderful contemporaries too. (:

And thanks on the deadline. Yes, it is nice not to feel like every muscle in my body is stretched with a rubber band. I've really enjoyed my time off. After today I need to get cracking again but the rest has been a blessing.

I can't wait for you to meet Seth either. I think he's my first hero with a large family. Going to be interesting!

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Jane! Thanks so much. I'm thrilled the deadline is over too! Will still have revisions and all the other stuff that goes with it, but man, what a relief!

Extreme Danger. Is that Shannon McKenna's new one? I think I have it in my 'you gotta read next' stack. And you can never go wrong with a Christie Craig book. She is just so delightful.

Have a great week, Jane!

jumping in late because internet is down at home. BOO!!! *sob*

This weekend I took my wonderful baby readers to a used bookstore. I can't even count the number of books I picked up, but I had to put most of them back because the boys were loading up the cart too. LOL. I did have to laugh at the bookstore as I was searching for my authors in the romance section and couldn't find anything...after a frantic couple of minutes I saw a little sign that said "Romantic suspense now in mystery section" Sure enough, at the tail end of the mystery section was a whole new section, just for Romantic Suspense! YAY!!!

So, this week I did a little KAren Rose reread, read the second Stephanie Tyler and now I'm reading Brenda Joyce's "The Chase" which I'm LOVING. I haven't figured out WTH happened and it's so exciting! LOL.

ok, now I have lots of work waiting for me. 17 voicemails thanks to the holiday weekend. Yikes.

Hey Marie! I'm thoroughly enjoying Fatal Affair. Can't wait to see how it ends! When is Fatal Justice due for release? Love your titles!

Yes, had a fabulous long weekend. Sounds like yours was wonderful too.

Thanks for stopping by. Come back and make more recommendations for us or just stop in and let us know how the writing is going. We love hearing from our favorite authors!

Have a great (writing) week!

Hey Linda! I almost bought The Mammoth Book the other day. Glad to hear it's worth the read. I think Mammoth scared me off. I have a problem these days with just regular sized reading. (:

I have Dark Slayer but haven't read it yet. I'm about 5 or 6 behind on the Dark series. Should I read it now or go back and read the others? (Hide your eyes, Kara!)

And you're right. The cover is gorgeous.

Have a great week!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Jackie! Enjoy those historicals! Now, have you read McNaught? If not, Crystal and I need to talk with you. (:

I think you'll love The Chief. I adore the hero and heroine!

Have a great week!

Hey Ronlyn! What fun to take your baby readers to a bookstore. You're creating readers for life!

Glad you found the romantic suspense section too. Looks like you got some good ones. I need to plan a complete Karen Rose reread some day. What fun!

Hope your Internet woes are fixed soon!

Have a great week!

Yes Jackie
We need to talk if you've not read any of Judith McNaughts historicals! I've been on a HUGE historical kick and she so far has been my favorite!
