How was your week last week? How about your weekend? I'm still in the midst of deep revision-land. The nice thing about being there is that chocolate is available 24/7--a staple when putting your characters through the wringer!
Didn't get any reading done last week because of the revisions, which is a major bummer for me. I had been enjoying reading at least one book a week but until these deadlines pass, I'll need to live vicariously through you all.
So tell us, what did you read last week that you're dying to recommend to others?
Sorry for the short and SWEET post, but my characters are screaming at me for keeping them in the dark. Gotta go let them out before they take over revision-land and eat up all the chocolate!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

last week i read Poison Study by Maria V Snyder and now i'm on the second book, Crossfire, of the 4 book High Risk Novel series by JoAnn Ross.
Last week I read Love at First Flight by Marie Force, Riding the Line by Kate Pearce, and Spy Games by Gina Robinson.
I'm about a third of the way through A Kiss to Kill by Nina Bruhns and it is really good. I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and wish there were more!
Christy, glad to hear you have enough chocolate to get you through this rough time.
Good Morning everyone - last week we traveled to the Bay Area in California for my son to compete in a karate tournament, so I had lots of time for reading since it is about a 6 hour car ride.
I read Hard and Fast & Flatout Sexy by Erin McCarthy. I was a little skeptical of this series when I was first given the first book, but they really are pretty good. I enjoyed the first so much, I got the next two almost immediately.
I also read the first book in the Troubleshooter series by Suzanne Brockmann, The Unsung Hero. Since this book was basically setting up the series, it was kind of....wordy, for lack of a better word. I enjoyed it, and can't wait to dig in to the series.
And to round it out...I finished Ain't To Proud to Beg by Susan Donovan. This was one I was given by a friend, it was a sweet book, and sounds like it was a set up for a series as well. I would recommend it to anyone that needs a change of pace from all of the hero/heroine type books that I seem to be addicted to.
Up next, I am not sure if I want to continue the Troubleshooter series or start a new one by a new author to me.... Sharon Sala. So many books and great authors to choose from.
Christy, good luck on your revisions. I know what you mean about the chocolate. My favorite is chocolate covered strawberries yummmmmy.
Holy Cow, apparently I had a lot to say looking at the length of my post. Sorry ladies, I need to learn to not be to excited about the books and just give it to you straight ;o)
oh no! Can't have them eatting all the chocolate! LOL. Send those unruly characters to my house. i'll mix up their special drinks. ;-)
I'm realizing that I read a lot more than I thought I did this week.
Finished the Lora Leigh book I was reading and right up to the end struggled with who was who. The sex was HOT but I would swear that even the people who didn't have new idtentities were being called by different names at times.
Finally read NO REGRETS by Shannon T. Butcher. I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm not sure why I was doubting myself, but there you go.
Read LOVE YOU TO DEATH by Shannon T. Butcher. LOVE IT! What a creepy bad guy. Ugh.
Finished WARRIOR by Sharon Sala last night. I was a little leary of this book and had it sitting in my TBR pile from the library. Once I let go of my paranormal issues I wound up enjoying it.
So, this morning I returned the last of my crazy huge library load. Maybe it's time to do some LCR re-reads. Or get more books from the library. Or both. :-)
Kick those characters into gear Christy!
xo
I read two of J.D. Robb's Kindred in Death and Fantasy in Death. I enyoy all of her books. Since I saw you all talking about Sharon Sala, I went to our library and got the only one of hers they had. It was Out of the Dark. It was really good but I did cry a lot. She is going to be one that I will put on my author to read list. And Christy keep all of the SWEET food available not just chocolate. I know Jamie and Dylan will appreciate how you get then through all of their trials. Have a SWEET week.
Hope--
the Troubleshooters series is so very good, and once you get going on them, you won't want to put them down. I highly recommend you stick with it!! :-)
Hey everybody! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
I read The Wedding, Rebellious Desire, The Wedding, Guardian Angel, and The Gift by Julie Garwood. All were very good. I am working on Castles also by Julia Garwood. Even though I wasn't overly excited about reading historical books I have been enjoying them! I'm itching to get my hands on a good Romantic Suspense though!
Christy enjoy all the chocolate you need to get you through to your deadlines! :)
Crystal, you MUST read RANSOM.
It's my favorite Garwood historical. It follows THE SECRET.
Hey all,
@ Hope, PLEASE read the 2nd Troubleshooters book. It's the book I had Suzanne Brockmann sign for me in Orlando, and the one that got me hooked on the series.
I have read a lot of books this week, but sadly none I'd really recommend. I think that means it's my foul mood and not the fault of the books. I finally decided to rely on a favorite and reread Rescue Me. NO foul mood could disrupt that great book.
Right now I am finishing up Brenda Novak's new book, White Heat and have just started the second Sharon Sala book Torn Apart.
Christy, good luck with all those revisions. Give me a call when you need more chocolate. Bet the RPs can hook you up!
@ Ronlyn, glad you pushed past your doubt on SKB's No Regrets. And Love You to Death is on my must reread pile.
@KK
I really don't know what my issue/reservation was with NO REGRETS. For whatever reason the blurg on the back just didn't grab me like the other did. Of course, once I started reading I was hooked.
And LOVE YOU TO DEATH reminded me of Karen Rose's writing a bit. Really enjoyed it.
Kara C - how did you like Sharon Sala book Torn Apart? She is on my TBR pile. AND, I will be starting the next Troubleshooter book today ;o) Thanks for the recommend.
susan - Love JoAnn Ross' High Risk Series - You might also try Tara Janzen's CRAZY series, very entertaining
Hello All,
I just read Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden and I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series, which don't come out until next week. I just started Deseperate Deeds by Dee Davis and I'm liking it so far. Hope everyone has a nice week.
PS - Krisgils33 - I really enjoyed the Nina Bruhns series, as well. I've been waiting to see if there will be another book released in the future.
Ronlyn I did read Ransom and I loved it! The Secret was awesome also!!
Hope I agree you should stick with The troubleshooter series! It keeps getting better and better!
Last week, I finished reading Enigma by Dee Davis.
I decided to read DreamVeil by Lynn Viehl...I had never read a book by her. I picked it up in the store, read a few pages of it and headed to checkout with it.
Reading this book was like being in the middle of a tornado---different characters with a variety of agendas---most totally unrelated to the premise were flung at you every few pages--totally losing track of the main characters of the book....as soon as your interest was piqued by the character(s) you were reading about, it switched....It was like reading snippets of several different books in one.
...I moved on to try another new writer,Eve Silver. I read Sins of the Heart. I enjoyed it a lot! Alpha, but redeemable male and a heroine who doesn't have to wait to be continuously rescued---what's not to love! LOL
Ok I just finished Castle's by Julie Garwood I would definitely recommend it! :)
Wait, wait, WAITTTT!!!
@Kara --- are you telling me that John and Meg's book is what got you hooked on that series???? Really??? I may have to reconsider this friendship :)
lol Aly!
Hi gals, so I chatted with Nina Bruhns on facebook a little bit today (which kinda makes me sound like a dork, but whatever). She said that she DOES plan another book in that series, she wants to do Bridge's story. BUT, she said if we loved that series we would LOVE her next one out in June. I will post what she said about it (and another she has coming out too)...
"Trust me, if you liked STORM, you will love the next trilogy, too -- Men In Uniform, starting in June '11. The first book's hero is a Russian submarine driver. I am SO loving writing this one!
Meanwhile I hope you give my new Nocturne trilogy a try. I (honest!) don't really write paranormal, but this one is very different. And there's a bit of a suspense to it as well. :D Let me know what you think, if you end up reading them!"
We have been racing up in New York but we have a week or two off at least from driving to NY. I have read so many books.. Right now reading The Apprentice by Tess Gerritson, Home Again by Mariah Stewart, great book. White Heat by Brenda Novak, The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner...Fabulous!!! Carnal sins by Allison Brennan. Can't think of any others. Have a great week.
Hey All! It does my heart good to open up this page and see all of these recommendations for great reads plus all the friendly banter. Thank you all so much for the good wishes on my revisions. I do believe I'm headed in the right direction but it's still going to take some time. Continued good wishes are sincerely appreciated!
Special shout out to Kara for the reread of RESCUE ME. You know I love hearing that my books are being reread!
Okay, I'm headed back to revision-land. The chocolate stash is dwindling and I've got a feeling my villain has been pilfering the goods!
Thanks again and (((((Hugs))))) to all!
Hey, it's me...Christy! I'm having major problems with my internet this morning. Won't be able to do Recommend Monday blog today. Feel free to post your recommendations here!
Hope to be up and running tomorrow. Happy Monday all!
Christy Reece
Hello everyone,
Last week,I read Christine Feehan's Water Bound. I really enjoyed it. I like that she is doing a series based on the other six Prakenskii brothers; related to Ilya who married Joley.
I read Sharie Kohler's Marked by Moonlight--good read. It was my first time (a) reading her book and (b) actually reading the first book of a series! LOL ---(B) was a fluke and won't happen again!
I re-read, Last Chance, which made me want to re-read Second Chance and I had to pick No Chance back up! Then, I really needed to read Run To Me, Return To Me and Rescue Me....Then I checked to see if Christy had put an excerpt on her website of her next upcoming book...hint, hint..LOL
