Recommend Monday!

Good Monday!

Hope you had a fabulous week and weekend. Did you do anything fun or read anything fantastic? If so, please share! And anyone who makes a book recommendation today will have a chance at an exciting prize. Read on to learn more!

Last week, I worked on copyedits for SWEET REWARD. Jared and Mia are such fun characters and I so enjoy working with them again as we polish up their story. Deadline is Wednesday, so we're definitely going to have to hit it hard until then to get everything done.

Did anyone happen to notice we're only 21 days away from the release of SWEET JUSTICE? Yahooooo! I'm so excited! I can't wait for you to finally meet Seth and get to know Honor better. BTW, if you didn't catch the video I made while I was in Los Angeles at the RT convention, here's the link: http://www.rtbookreviews.com/rt-daily-blog/video-interview-christy-reece.

Take a look at it so you can see what prompted Mr. Reece to say: "You certainly seemed to have a good grasp of the subject matter." *giggle* Since I'm talking about myself and my books I guess that's a good thing!

So what's going on with you? Do you have children returning to school today? Is it a mad, mad, mad Monday to rush and get everyone out the door? I remember those days of the bus driver honking, kids screaming and me rushing around trying to get out the door before the driver gave up and went on her way. Aw yes, good times. (:

So what's that prize, you ask? Well, last Monday, while I was sitting in my office, having a heated discussion with Mia and Jared, the Fed Ex man appeared at my door with a small package. And in that package were two copies of a book with a very hunky man on the cover. Yay! I officially have SWEET JUSTICE in my house! One is spoken for. (Crystal, something SWEET is on its way to you!) Because Crystal was such a great help to me in my research on Wyoming and the surrounding area, I promised her one of the first copies. Hope you enjoy, Crystal and thank you again for your help!

However, there's another copy up for grabs and it could be yours. All you have to do is give a book recommendation and you'll be entered to win a signed copy of SWEET JUSTICE. Be sure to give your recommendation by midnight (CST) to be entered in the contest. I'll announce the winner tomorrow morning (10ish).

Okay, that's it for me for a day or so. I'm headed back to spend some quality time with Jared and Mia. Have a wonderful day, everyone! Can't wait to hear what you're recommending!

Happy Monday morning everyone!

Whoopee! The SWEETs are almost within reach!! Hey Crystal, you lucky girl -- ENJOY!!! Christy, I hope you get those edits finished and give yourself some well-deserved downtime!

I just finished Julie Garwood's new book, "The Ideal Man." It was an easy read and I was entertained but it certainly wasn't "fantastic." I have to admit that I was disappointed. I did however LOVE the characters. They are what made the book for me.

I also read Susan Sey's "Money Shot" which I thought was clever, funny, witty and well-done. It was fun to read.

I've got a grandson starting kindergarten tomorrow and today we're celebrating by going to see the "Smurfs." Should be fun and at least it's an excuse to have popcorn, sour patch kids and chocolate covered almonds (guess who gets those?)!

Have a great week!

Hi All, Happy Monday!

I have one more week before my little starts preschool. She's ready to go. Mom, not so much.

I can't wait for the release Christy, I feel like I tell you that every week.

Not much reading last week. I finished You Belong to Me by Karen Rose and loved it.

and read Promises in the Dark by Stephanie Tyler, love this series and would recommend it to all.

Anne, enjoy the movie and the treats!

Have a great week everyone!

Christy!!! You have just made my sleepy , dreary Monday morning a DELIGHT! I can't wait to stay up all night with Seth.....oh I guess I'll let Honor stay up with us as well. Thank you very much!!
I had a great weekend. I met my husbands co-workers this weekend and we spent the entire day yesterday having a BBQ and just playing. My husband hasn't played football since middle school and he was talked into playing yesterday. I told his head safety lady yesterday she would be lucky to get any work out of him today. Needless to say this morning he was moving around a little slower than usual. I said if you can't run with the big....I mean young boys...you best be staying on the porch from now on. lol I just got a scowl.

I have been trying to stay away from the technology equipment in my life this past week. My family thinks I'm ignoring all their phone calls as well as FB post. BUT the good part of that idea is I read 5 books last week with very good intentions of doing the same this week.
I read several new to me authors this week and really enjoyed them all. First I read
After the Fire by Kathryn Shay (this is a LendMe book for a nook if anyone would like to barrow it)It was a very good book with several characters lives involved. I stayed up way to late reading this book. I think midnight..
Then I read The Heir by Grace Burrowes. Another first, but I also really enjoyed this book. Stayed up late with this one too around midnight as well...
Next was Most Eagerly Yours by Allison Chase. Another wonderful historical writer! I can't wait to grab the others in this series. This book I stayed up until 2:30 reading.
Then came When Love Awaits by Johanna Lindsay. Another great historical!! Ronlyn has been telling me to try Johanna awhile now and even sent me several books by her, but somehow with our move they didn't get loaded up. Yes I blame the husband for that!! :)
So all those were new authors for me and they all rocked!! Now last but not least... I read Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught. I thought I had read everything by her, but I found this at the UBS and grabbed it. She didn't disappoint in this book either. What a great author that woman is!! I stayed up until 3:45 am reading that book. I'm a little sleep deprived but it was oh so worth reading without my kids help!
I hope everyone has a fabulous week!! KK hope your feeling better and the kids took it easy on you today.

Happy Monday Everyone!

YAY! Only 21 more days! I can't wait!

I had a Laura Griffin fest this weekend. I read both Untraceable and Unspeakable which I really enjoyed. Now I'm reading Unforgettable and really liking it so far...too bad I had to put it down to go to work :-)I also read and enjoyed Deadly Intent by Kylie Brant.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Christy and all!

I have missed out on a lot of good news and good reads.

I have been babysitting my 3yo nephew and 5yo neice...although sometimes I wonder who is actually in charge!

My days have been spent at the pool, in the back seat of the Barbie jeep, doing an imitation of a growling walking zombie who is too slow to actually catch running, laughing kids and my favorite---being scolded for my ineptness at playing Dora interactive games using a tricycle to tv attachment....It,s hard enough getting in the back of that motorized jeep....for the tricycle, I have to stay off and use my hands to pedal...needless to say, I am never going to get through the maze game...the kids have told me so! : )

Have a great Monday everyone!

Love the countdown to SWEET and really needed it today. Took me 2 hrs 20 mins to get to work this morning on the Metro. It was horrific. I would have gone back home, but was supposed to be at a meeting...that ended up getting cancelled!!

I'm almost done with Lori Wilde's the Welcome Home Garden Club. Pretty good book. I also read Playing for Keeps by LuAnne McClean. Another of her fun, light reads.

I drove up to Authors After Dark in Philly on Saturday to have dinner with Dakota Cassidy and Monica Burns. Spent alot of time in traffic on the ride up, but made it in time to get autographs from some of the authors for Shelly!

Sunday we went to the Natural History Museum and to our favorite DC-area pizza place 2 Amy's. YUM!

We still have a few weeks until school starts, so my daughter is at soccer camp this week.

Enjoy your quiet time with Jared and Mia!! So fun!
I had to carry a sleeping kid to the car today because he did NOT want to wake up and get back to his routine post-vacation. The other kiddo however bounded out of bed because he gets to go to camp today. Oh to be able to bound without the aid of coffee.....
I've been reading a ton lately. Most recently I'm reading Glenna McReynolds (RIVER OF EDEN, which is her contemp set in the Amazon) which I'm enjoying. I can see peeks of her morphing into Tara Janzen, which is fun.
Back to work and the ringing phone...happy Monday everyone!

Hi Christy! 3 more weeks to go... I can't wait!! Good for you, Crystal!:)

I have not been reading a bunch, but I definately will reccomend the book I just finished.... I woke up in the middle of the night, couldn't go back to sleep, so I picked this book up. I read most of it straight through without interruptions. It was so awesome-- it's In The Air Tonight by Stephanie Tyler. LOVE that series!!

My boys start school next Wednesday. I am so ready- but they are dreading it! They are entering 8th and 5th grades... I go back to work (a nearby preschool) in exactly 2 weeks. So I get a few days of peace and quiet before I head back. :)

We had a full weekend... a family reunion and trips to the county fair Fri, Sat and Sun. Between both of those- I have pigged out so bad! I love those big 'ole onion rings and funnel cakes... I am holding off on the fried and fatty foods for this week.

Have a good week, everybody!

Happy Monday all,

This weekend was the big family get together for my granddaughter's christening. Luckily the weather here in upstate New York was better than predicted. No rain and some of the kids actualy went swimming. It was all good.

I finished "The 2nd Lie" by Tara Taylor Quinn as well as "The Third Secret" Both very good. Currently reading the last in the Chapman Files series, "The 4th Victim." I highly recommend this series to everyone.

Still have lots to read in my TBR pile but the one I am waiting for is getting closer every day! Cannot wait for my LCR fix.

Have a good week everyone.

Hi Everyone,
the the waiting for the release of Sweat Justice is nearly over :YAY!!! Congratulations, Crystal for getting an early copy.

Christy - great viedeo. It was nice to actually see and hear you talking about the Sweet books.

No recommends from me today. I bought Marliss
Meltons The Protector and SEPs Glitter Baby but I am determined to save them for our holidays in the first two weeks in September. And as ther are so many reconmmends here I am sure I will have a huge amazon order before we start for Denmark.

I also bought Nora Roberts "Without a trace" at our local bookstore and and at first I was pleased to actually find an english book. But when I started reading I discovered that I already read the German version, only the family there was called O´Hara instead of O`Hurley - so I was a bit dissapointed.

Annie you mentioned your grandson starts kindergarten tomorrow. Congratulations! May I ask a question ? After reading many books where starting kindergarten is mentioned I always wondered what kindergarten is in the U.S. Is it some sort of preschool? I am curious because kindergarten is a german word but I think it is something entirely different here.

Have a nice week everyone.

Ronlyn said...

Elke,
In the US kindergarten is the first year of elementary school (age 5), the following year the children go into "first grade". It's sort of a year where they learn the basics including how to behave in the classroom, etc. :-)

Christy, Can't wait for these new books to come out! Recommend you to all my Romance sisters - so fun. Just love this series. Thanks for sharing your storytelling with us all. Happy Monday!

Currently re-reading Kiss Of Snow by Nalini Singhfor the hundredth time, I absolutely love this book! This book is tied for my favorite book. If you haven't read this series before ,please start with Slave to Sensation( book 1) so that you can really appreciate Kiss of Snow( which is book 10 in the series).

Thanks for answeering my question, Ronlyn.
Here in Germany kindergarten starts at the age of 3 and it is mostly some sort of day care . School starts at the age of 6 , but in the last year of kindergarten there ar some lessons to prepare the children for school, so this is simmilar to the U.S.

Hey Christy,

Cannot wait for the SWEET books! Have them pre-ordered so my copy should soon be on its way.

In Malta kids start school end of September. Its too hot for them to study anyway. Mine go to summer club while I am at work, however this week we are on leave and are going to Malta's sister island of Gozo with my family. We are six siblings plus my parents our husbands/wives and 13 grandchildren. Believe me, we will make loads of noise :).

Today was the feast of Santa Maria in Malta. Its a public holiday. We went out to eat at lunch time then took the kids to watch The Smurfs. Brought back memoeires of when we used to watch it on Italian TV when we were kids. In Italian they are called Puffi.

This week I have read my first Michelle Willingham books - Claimed by a Highland Warrior and Seduced by Her Highland Warrior. They are quite good and am now hankering for more medieval books.

So if any of you have suggestions for good medieval romances I'd appreciate. Just so you get an idea - I adore Julie Garwood's medievals but also enjoy Monica McCarty's.

This week I recommend MArie Force's Fatal series. I know most of you have already read the books. I am really really enjoying them.

Also recommend Roxanne St Claire's Killer Curves - more contemp than romantic suspense but very enjoyable.

Loved: Eye Of The Storm by Monette Michaels – Thanks to the girls from Romance & Oreo suggestion. It had mixed reviews but I just loved the over the top kick butt heroine.

Stayed up till 4AM on a work night reading Changing The Game
by Jaci Burton. Loved it. Liz is redeemed. Romantic AND hot story.

Enjoying:
Too Hot To Touch by Louisa Edwards
Fatal Consequences by Marie Force

Tara mentioned Stephanie Tyler's new release. I haven't read that yet, but I was rereading her old Blazes this weekend. I would definitely recommend "Risking it All" and "Beyond His Control."

Thanks, Jane. I'll check out the Stephanie Tyler's you mentioned. I am really enjoying her books, and always looking for more to add to my TBR pile!

Happy Monday everyone. It is almost 3:30 in the afternoon here at my house and I am still in my jammies. We had a VERY busy and eventful weekend in Las Vegas this weekend where my son competed at a national karate tournament where he took 2 FIRST places a SECOND place and a FOURTH place. It was all very SWEET but VERY taxing on the old bones, not to mention a 3 am wake up call to get on the plane yesterday. So jammies are in order today.

I read a few really good books while on my travels. Jackie recommended to me Kaylea Cross, and I started her SEAL series, with Out of Her League and Cover of Darkness. I loved these books and highly recommend them.

I finished a couple of older rereleases from an author I usually love, and they were just kind of "eh" for me.

I also read After the Fire by Kathryn Shay, I have had this on my Nook for a long time, I don't know what made me pick up it this week, but I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I really loved it and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Should be a relatively easy week in the Frost home, we are starting school shopping...yes, I wait till the last minute cause my mutant is growing at astounding rates. Have a great week everyone.

Hello,

I'm so excited that Christy's new books are almost here!! I can't wait to dive into the stories.

I also just read Stephanie Tyler's In the Air Tonight and really enjoyed it, but would recommend reading the first two in the series to get the full effect of all the continuing characters.

Another book I recently read was Brenda Novak's Inside. This was my first book by her. It had an interesting premise with the hero being in jail for many years (wrongly convicted of murder) and trying to extricate himself from the gang he joined to survive. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Good week to everyone.

Hey, Christy! I've been holding off on joining in the countdown for SJ because everyday in your countdown brought school one day closer to reality. But, since the first day is now in the books, I will gladly join in! LOL!

I have just started The Ideal Man, am finishing up Karen Robards' Pursuit, and Laura Moore's Believe in Me. I'm hoping to get my hands on the new Robards book ASAP. I've also been reading the Sullivan boys series by KM Daughters. One more book to go in a series, then it's on to something new.

Now I have to put away the computer and my books and try to get a class schedule together that doesn't require me to teach fourth grade spelling while cooking dinner. ;-) I need a few more hours in the day.

Luci, I've been wracking my brain for more mid-evil historicals for you. Johanna Lindsey has several which I enjoyed. Garwood, who you mentioned. Kinley McGregor (aka Sherrilynn Kenyon) wrote a few that were great. Claudia Dain. Catherine Coulter. I know there are tons more that aren't coming to me right off the top of my head.
Enjoy! That's where I started my reading adventure, so I love it.

oklanannie said...

FYI Luci (and Ronlyn) & anyone else interested: What about that series by Monica McCarty that includes THE CHIEF, THE RANGER, THE HAWK. I really enjoyed it.

Alison said...

That's a good series! I also really liked Monica McCarty's other two trilogies.

Ronlyn said...

I think Luci mentioned that series (didn't you?) But I agree, that's a great series. :-)

LOVED Monica McCarty!!
