Recommend Monday and Winner of B'day Giveaway

Good Monday Everyone!

With the summer almost upon us, I thought we could add a little something extra to Recommend Monday. When I was a kid, summer meant seeing lots more movies. I still get excited to go see a movie and when the big blockbusters are advertised, it's such a thrill. So not only are we recommending great books for everyone to read, but great movies too. And while most of us see a whole less movies than we read books, it'll be great fun if you've seen a movie you loved and want to recommend it here.

So, with that said: How was your weekend? Did you see any great movies and/or read any great books? If so, please share with us!

Last week was a busy but fabulous week. Birthdays, even at my age, are still fun to me. And two lovely ladies made it even more special with a gorgeous Alabama basket filled with lots of delicious goodies.

Thank you all so very much for the lovely birthday wishes both here and on my Facebook page. I will once again repeat that I have the nicest, kindest readers in the world! (:

My weekend was super busy, too, and oh so much fun. Saturday was the Heart of Dixie Readers Luncheon in Huntsville. I so enjoyed seeing some of my readers who I've gotten to know from year to year and loved meeting new readers. I had one young lady introduce herself, saying she wanted to read some of the authors who were coming to the luncheon, so she and her friend purchased a couple of my books and so loved them, they went out and bought five more the next day. An author can't ask for a nicer compliment than that. LOL Yes, she made me cry but I know you're not surprised by that.

Then, two very special friends surprised me with a little birthday party, cake, sign and wonderfully thoughtful gifts. We went to the Olive Garden for dinner and had a blast. Then we stayed up till the wee hours giggling like teenagers. It was a lovely way to top off my birthday week.

As I mentioned last week, May is deadline month for Zach and Savannah. Sigh, no, I still don't have an official title. Until I do, we'll continue to refer to it as Zach and Savannah's book. They were incredibly cooperative last week. This week, I'm heading to an undisclosed location for some intense alone time with these two wonderful characters. Fingers crossed they open up even more.

As for recommends, I haven't been to a theater in a while, so have no movies to recommend today. I'm hoping to change that as soon as I meet my deadline. As for books, I'm still in the midst of reading the Fifty Shades trilogy. I'm on the third book, Fifty Shades Freed. And while I enjoyed the first one, the second one wasn't all I wanted it to be, however, Fifty Shades Freed has been an entertaining read. I'm in the middle of it and hope to finish it soon. I admit, in between the craziness, I've grown quite fond of both Christian and Ana.

And now, for the giveaway announcement. Since I love giveaways and there was such a good response, I decided name two winners and they are: jbiggar and Michele (Chelleyreads). Congratulations ladies, I'll email you for your mailing address.

Okay, that's it for me. I'm heading to the writing cave. I hope you have a fabulous week. Can't wait to see what books and movies you're recommending today!

Happy Monday everyone, and I mean that with the sincerest form of sarcasm I can muster :)

No new reads from me, I haven't been able to concentrate much on reading for fun. As for movies, I did go with my son to see the Avengers, it was pretty cute.

Have a great week everyone. Christy, so happy that you had a great birthday!!

I swear my subconscious automatically has me checking to see if RM is up every Monday at 11!!!

So glad to hear you had an awesome birthday, Christy!

My weekend was too busy with dance competition and soccer games both on Saturday and Sunday. We were up and out the door super early both days, which is my least favorite thing.

As far as reading goes, I read Carly Phillips' Karma, Catherine Mann's Under Fire, Susan Mallery's Almost Summer, and Kristan Higgin's Somebody To Love. All were enjoyable reads.

Hi Ms.Reece, I had a busy reading week. I discovered a "must read" book called "On The Island" by Tracey Garvis Graves.I read it in one day:) I could not put it down. If you like the movie "The Blue Lagoon" or the tv show "Lost" you will love this wonderful romance that will take your breath away, leave you in tears and realling pulling for this "unlikely" romantic couple who find their way to each other and to your heart. I also read "Sweet Dreams" and "Lady Luck" both by Kristen Ashley also must read books:)

Monday again already! glad to hear that last week was a good one for you. Did read two books last week...Colby Law by Debra Webb. And Catherine Mann's Under Fire. Both are good books.
As for movies I went to see The Raven.. it was a good movie, a little slower moving then what I expected but did a good job of tying all of Edgar Allen Poe's works into it. I plan on seeing the Avengers this week, instead of going to movies this weekend I baked and cooked for the family.
Hope you can find a secluded spot to finish writing!

Hi Christy, hi Everyone!
Sounds like you had a fabulous week Christy.

I had a reading blast last week and read some really great books.
So I can recommend:
Karma by Carly Phillips, Sage Creek by Jill Gregory ( Hope recommended it on her "bookshelf" ),"The Summit" by Kat Martin ( one of her backlist books),
and I discovered a new to me author - Diana Duncan. I read "Deal with the Devil" and "Devil may care" - and they are fun to read. Especially the first one had me giggling and sometimes laughing out loud. Seams there are more books to come about the Devilish Devlins ( an Irish family of 10 siblings, six of them "devilish" good looking guys). I am looking forward to the next book.

I am not much for movies, so no recs there.

Have agreat week Everyone and good luck for the finale of Zacks and Savannahs story, Christy!

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday!

I had a 3 day weekend this weekend, I used it to watch the Kentucky Derby, check out a baseball game, and try a new recipe for an ultimate chocolate chip cookie and oreo fudge brownie bar.

I didn't get much reading done this weekend. I finished Under Fire, by Catherine Mann, its the latest in her Elite Force series, and my favorite of the 3.

Right now I'm reading Crash Into You, by Roni Loren, she's a new to me author that Jackie recommended. I'm really liking it so far. It definitely sucks you in with the switches between past and present.

Have a good week!

Act of Valor was the last movie I went to see and I loved, loved, loved it.

I began reading Lori Foster's When you Dare, a Recommend read. It's not bad. It was a toss up between LF and Dee Davis, both new to me authors.

I also took the time to spend a little time on Goodreads. I am so behind the times. What a great site!

See you next week.

Sam

Peeking out of my writing hideaway to say hey! Recommends were great this week and as soon as my deadline is complete, I plan to devour several of these books! And thanks for the movie recommends too. I can't wait to catch up on on the ones I missed and see some of the summer blockbusters, too.

Note to Heather: Send me an email. Would love to know what you and Mary think!

Okay, I'm headed back to my little town where the stakes are rising and so is the steam! Happy weekend all. See you Monday! xoxo
