Happy National Buy A Book Day!

Happy Friday Everyone! Did you know that today was National Buy A Book Day? Me either! But now that I know, I feel compelled to do my part. Want to join me? There's a prize in it for someone!

Here's the challenge: Go buy a book, either eBook, paperback or hard cover, from your favorite online source or bookstore and come back here and tell me what you bought and where you purchased it. Heck, you can even tell us a little bit about it and why you wanted to read it, if you like.

On Monday, I'll select one person from the "I just bought" comments to win two signed LCR books of your choice. How's that for a 3 for 1 deal?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going book shopping. I'll stop by a little later and tell you what I bought!

Support an author and buy a book today!

I bought "Sharing Hailey" by Samantha Ann King from amazon.com for my kindle...I bought it because I read a review about it a few weeks ago and it sounded interesting and its also very different from most of the romance books I read. Hopefully its good otherwise I'll just request a refund from amazon :) but so far the reviewer hasn't let me down on the ones i have read based on her reviews

Here's the description:

Hailey Anderson's deep, dark secret? She's been madly in lust with her overprotective brother's two best friends for years. Gorgeous woodworking artist Mark Allen and sexy doctor Tony Adamo have no idea they star in her fantasies every night.

After a nasty breakup with her abusive boyfriend, Hailey's looking for a little distance. Headed for a two-week Hawaiian vacation with her brother and his hot friends, Hailey can't wait to feast her eyes on Mark's and Tony's rock-hard, ocean-slick bodies. Even if she can't touch.

But instead of treating her like their little sister, Mark and Tony have a surprising proposition: a monogamous ménage à trois. The three of them—and no one else. Both men want Hailey and have agreed to share her. The red-hot reality is even better than the forbidden fantasy. Until Hailey's ex threatens their newfound happiness…

I just bought: No One Left To Tell by Karen Rose. I've been dying to read this but haven't been able to find it in the store. She's one of my absolute favorite romantic suspense authors.

Here's the back cover copy. Sounds so good!

Karen Rose returns to the world of Baltimore’s cops and prosecutors with a new tale of danger and desire…

A car crashes in front of rookie PI Paige Holden’s home. And suddenly, she finds one of her pro bono clients dying in her arms—from a gunshot wound. With her last breath, the woman whispers cryptic words into her ear and hands her a blood-smeared flash drive.

Five years ago, State’s Attorney Grayson Smith put a murderer behind bars. But when Paige Holden shares the flash drive with him, its contents cast doubts on the conviction—and lead him and Paige into a world of blackmail, dark secrets, and a decades-long string of murders. An investigation they’ll survive only by trusting each other—and the truth.

I just bought On the Island by Tracy Garvis Graves. I have read about it in a few places and has 1491 reviews on Amazon. The subject matter is somewhat controversial. Here's the blurb:

Anna Emerson is a thirty-year-old English teacher desperately in need of adventure. Worn down by the cold Chicago winters and a relationship that’s going nowhere, she jumps at the chance to spend the summer on a tropical island tutoring sixteen-year-old T.J.

T.J. Callahan has no desire to go anywhere. His cancer is in remission and he wants to get back to his normal life. But his parents are insisting he spend the summer in the Maldives catching up on all the school he missed last year.

Anna and T.J. board a private plane headed to the Callahan’s summer home, and as they fly over the Maldives’ twelve hundred islands, the unthinkable happens. Their plane crashes in shark-infested waters. They make it to shore, but soon discover that they’re stranded on an uninhabited island.

At first, their only thought is survival. But as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.’s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

I am excited to read it!

Okay you made be a bad person and buy a book today (not that I needed much arm twisting). I was being so good and trying to read my long list of TBR that I already have on my Nook. So today I bought one off of my wish list :D
Linda Fairstein's Night Watch. This is the 14th book in the Alexandra Cooper series. Here is the back of the book blurb:
Forty-eight hours after Alexandra Cooper arrives in France to visit her boyfriend and famed restaurateur, Luc Rouget, her vacation in paradise is cut short when a young woman from the village is found murdered. The only evidence discovered on the body is one of Luc’s matchboxes promoting his new restaurant in New York. But before the investigation begins, Alex is summoned back to New York to handle a high profile case.

Okay so now I am going to have to rework my TBR pile again.

Just bought Jacquie D'Alessandro's The Bride Thief. Its not a new book but i read a few of her books and loved them so am giving this a try.

Love Karen Rose, Christy! Hope you are doing okay. Have been really busy and hardly have any personal online time.

Here's The Bride Thief blurb

HAS ENGLAND’S MOST INFAMOUS BRIDE THIEF FINALLY MET HIS MATCH?

At six-and-twenty, Samantha Briggeham knew her marital prospects were fading by the season and she was pleased by the thought. She had no intention of being betrothed–especially against her will–to a man she did not love. She had a plan...and it didn’t include being swept into a pair of powerful arms and spirited away by a masked rider. News of Sammie’s heroic rescue from undesired wedlock turned her into the toast of the ton, wooed by suitors far and wide. But she couldn’t forget the swashbuckling brigand who’d abducted her–something about him intrigued her completely. Then she met Eric Landsdowne, the dashing and seductive Earl of Wesley.

His exploits were legendary, his life filled with danger. He was the elusive Bride Thief, who had his own reasons for helping young women escape the unhappy fate of arranged marriages, and whose true identity was a scrupulously guarded secret. But from the moment he rescued Sammie–only to discover she’d already managed to get herself un-betrothed–Eric knew he couldn’t lose her a second time. Marriage was out of the question. Which left only one option: A clandestine affair that might lead to scandal, social ruin, and the unmasking of a love-bested legend. . .

My sister is addicted to these books as of now, and I told her NEXT she is moving on to the LCR series!! I know she will LOVE it!!

I bought Shirley Jump's Return of the Last Mckenna, a very talented writer whom I very much enjoy. This is the story of a returning war medic trying to fulfill a promise given. Sounds really good
