An Opportunity to Share and Win

Yesterday I was sitting in my office working on page proofs for RETURN TO ME, the second book in my trilogy. I love this book, even if I did write it. The hero, Noah McCall, is the founder and head of Last Chance Rescue Enterprises. He's heroic, sexy and incredibly stubborn...my favorite kind of hero. Samara Lyons, the heroine, is gutsy and spirited...a perfect match for Noah. Admittedly, the book has several dark moments, but justice prevails and there's a happy ever after. My favorite kind of read.

But I digress... So yesterday, I was sitting in my office and the Fed Ex truck rumbles by my house. I'm thinking, hmm...my publisher often uses them...am I expecting anything? My line and copy edits for RUN TO ME (Ethan Bishop and Shea Malone's intensely emotional love story) are coming soon, but probably not for a week or two. So I turn away and get back to work, sure that the Fed Ex truck is delivering to one of my neighbors.

And then...he came back and stopped in front of my house!

I rushed down the stairs...admittedly after he'd pulled away since I was in my pjs...and opened the door to find a package. Oh wow, wrong size for a manuscript. What could it be? My fur kids are going crazy behind me, because of course, the door bell rang and that means excitement. The noise only adds to the anticipation as I rip into the package and...Oh My!!! Advanced reading copies of RESCUE ME!!! They're beautiful! All shiny and pretty and everything. Woohoo!

After gazing at them for at least an hour, I suddenly realized I needed to get them into the hands of readers. Oh boy! My agent suggested taking them to booksellers. So this weekend, despite the extreme shyness that often strikes me at inconvenient times, I'm heading to a few stores to give them away.

RESCUE ME, the first book in my trilogy, is truly the book of my heart. The heroine, Eden St. Claire, overcomes enormous tragedy and heartache. The hero, Jordan Montgomery, is tough and sexy, but has an underlying tenderness that makes me sigh every time I think about him. This is a story of triumph and redemption and everlasting love. What can I say? I love these characters and their story. And now, I can't wait to get it into the hands of readers.

Here's where you come in. I've been pretty preoccupied the last couple of years with writing and haven't had the opportunity to read as much as I would like. I've read a few of my favorite authors and of course, bought as many debut author's books as I could since I think we should all support each other, but my reading time has been seriously diminished. I'm writing three books this year, but once I'm through, I'm going to want to read. A lot!

So, if you would like an opportunity to win an autographed advanced reading copy of RESCUE ME, please give me a recommendation of one of your favorite books. It doesn't have to be romantic suspense or even romance. Though that is my favorite, I enjoy reading other genres too.

Making the recommendation will give all who read this blog some great book suggestions and you an opportunity to win.

Drawing will be one week from today at 5:00 PM CST. I'll announce the winner on the blog. Since I'm only giving away one copy, each person will only have their name put in once. Even if you comment several times or leave multiple book recommendations. And please, no just leaving your name. Only those who give a recommendation will have an opportunity to win. Let's get the word out about one of your favorite books!

So, come on...Leave a recommendation. We'll all benefit and one person will get my book!

Let's get started!

Hi Christy! First let me say, Congratulations!!! Your excitement is very contagious. ;)

If I had a book to recommend right now, it would be the four books in the Twilight series. That's what I'm reading right now and I love them. I'm sure I'm not alone. ;D

Kathy, thanks so much! I've heard great things about these books. Have you seen the movie? I can't decide if I should read them before seeing the movie.

Thanks for dropping by. Your name is going into the proverbial hat!

HI!!

Yeah, I really liked the Twilight series too, Kathy. Great read.

One I've just read recently was: SHADE, by John B. Olson. That was GREAT! I read it in just under two days. Couldn't pull my self away.

I know how it feels to be behind in reading due to writing. Although unpubbed, I've been writing up a storm....which leaves little time to read. But we'll catch up.

I'd be up for the contest to win an ARC. So, if my name is drawn, here's my email: sheriboeyink{at}cox{dot}net.

Have a great day.

Hi, Christy!

I have to recommend The Boys Next Door by our own Jennifer Echols. :-)

(Did I win? Huh? Huh? Did I? Did I? Oh, I hope so! Fingers crossed!)

Hey Christy!

Fellow SM member here to give you props! :-) So genuinely happy for your success and hope to follow in your footsteps soon.

By the way, I adore your website it is way cool. The little "cut out" letters and the sound effects are creep-a-licious!

Book recommendation? I have so many. So, I'll go with what I'm reading now...."Life Eternal" by Drew Silver. This is the 3rd book in a series and it is hot and scary. If you like vampires you gotta buy this one.

Wish you the best,
Kerri

The movie is fabo. I've seen it 3 times. LOL! I know many people who've seen it more than that, and they're adults!! ;)

If you go see it, you'll definitely want to read the books.

Thanks for letting me have a chance to win one of your ARC's. I'm so excited for you and wish you all the best with your first release!!

Congratulations Christy! Wow!!!! I was going to recommend Twilight, but that's already in the mix. So I will recommend a book I read over the summer by Cassandra King-The Same Sweet Girls. It's about a group of sorority sisters who meet twice a year as time passes by. It's got three different perspectives, the prerequisite health/scary disease stuff, and colorful characters. Of course it is a southern author and set in the south. I love it.

Another book I loved is Charms for th Easy Life... I reread that one a lot. It takes me away and is filled with amazing characters set in a time I love before, during and through WW2... I love the female characters in it.

Congrats again and looking forward to reading ALL your books (when I have time -- LOL -- tho' not published, always writing)

Hi, Christy!
Congratulations again!! I'm so thrilled for you! Well, my recommendations aren't actually new books, but they're ones I've discovered. It's Beverly Barton's trilogy, The Fifth Victim, The Last to Die and As Good as Dead. Loved 'em! Also, Nora Roberts newest trilogy, Blood Brothers, The Hollow and The Pagan Stone. All great books!

Huge Congrats, Christy!! You need a little clear pouch to wear around your neck with a copy of your book in it! Did you sleep with it under your pillow? I would have!

Hmm, recommendations. Let me see. Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsake one of the great love stories of all time.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by Brecht - one of the great Southern novels of all time.

Colleen Gleason's Regency vampire series - the first novel The Rest Falls Away. Amazing series.

Mary Janice Davidson's Undead series. I mean how many books start with the line - The day I died started out bad and got worse. (from Undead and Unwed)

And the Preston Douglas / Lincoln Child Pendargast series beginning with RELIC. I absolutely LOVE this series and its hero!

Christy,

I will be reading about you five years from now. It will say, "New York Times, bestselling author Christy Reece" and you still might not get to read as much as you would like. Resist! Make time to read and try Kristin Hannah's True Colors, coming out February 2009. I can't wait to read your books.

Hi, Christy! Congrats and many hugs!

The latest I've read and would recommend are:

The Mistress Diaries - by Julianne MacLean
Her One Desire - by Kimberly Killion
Tempting - by Hope Tarr

All of these were wonderful.

Congratulations! I love finding new romantic suspense authors, so I'm really looking forward to your books.

Recently, I discovered J. T. Ellison & can highly recommend her books: All the Pretty Girls, 14 and Judas Kiss.

Good luck with everything.

Barb, thanks so much! Be sure to come back and leave a recommendation! I only have a limited number of ARCs and they may be gone by the time I get to the meeting. I want to include your name in the drawing.

Christy Reece said...

Thanks Lynn. I'll definitely check Shade out. I'm not familiar with John P. Olson's work, but don't you just love it when you start reading a book and you absolutely don't want to put it down?

A few months back, I read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's an old book but someone recommended it to me and I'm so glad they did. I loved it and stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it.

LOL. There's a recommendation from me!

Christy Reece said...

Thanks, JoAnn! And definitely agree with you. Jennifer Echols is wonderful. Loved Major Crush and The Boys Next Door. Really looking forward to her new one. Going Too Far which releases March 17. Sounds fabulous!

Christine, thanks so much. Your recommendations sound awesome. Especially like the sound of The Same Sweet Girls. Love southern based novels!

Thanks, Naima. I've read Beverly Barton. You're right, she's fabulous. And of course, I've read oodles of Nora Roberts. Haven't read the ones you suggested, but will put them on my ever growing TBR list.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Wow, Louisa, fantastic recommendations and very eclectic too! I have to agree with you, Flowers From the Storm is one of the best historical romances of all time. It's in my top ten favorites.

Sounds like you enjoy vampire romances. If so, have you read Christine Feehan? I love her Carpathian series.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. Adding them all to my list!

I read "Let it Snow" recently and even though it arrived after Christmas, I still got very into it.

Christy Reece said...

Hi Lindsay, thanks so much for stopping by my site. And for the recommendation.

Who is the author of Let it Snow? Sounds very Christmasy. I'll add it to my list.

Can't wait to see your book on the shelves. I'll probably embarrass myself to strangers, gushing, "I know her!"

So if you're at all like me you have your books separated into 3 piles, ones to read just for fun and entertainment, ones that will hone your craft and ones to make you think. In the last category, I'm reading "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young. I was unaware of it until about a month ago. And, yes, it is making me think.

Christy Reece said...

Hey Nannette, thanks for stopping by.

I read The Shack last fall and loved it. And yes, it does make you think...and I cried a lot too.

Thanks for the recommendation!
