Good Monday!

Hi All

Hope you had a restful, relaxing weekend filled with all of your favorite things. My weekend was a busy one. I attended an RWA chapter meeting. Southern Magic, my home chapter, is so much fun. It was a day of talking about writing, the business of writing, our goals for the year and catching up with everyone. What a treat to sit down with wonderful, enthusiastic people who have the same interests. It's almost, not quite, but almost as much fun as talking to you guys about books!

So, what did you read this past week that you can recommend to us? I actually got to do a bit of reading myself, but since it's for a contest, I can't talk about the books. Bummer! But I'm so enjoying them.

But what about you? What did you read that you want your fellow readers to read too?

Oh, and as a reminder, as you know, the last Tuesday of the month is always big release Tuesday and two of our favorite authors have books coming out. I know you probably already know about them, but just in case, don't forget that Allison Brennan has a new series, based upon the seven deadly sins. The first book, Original Sin, releases tomorrow. It looks awesome! And, Hold on Tight, Stephanie Tyler's last book in her trilogy, comes out tomorrow too. Lots of people looking forward to that one!

To authors, having readers buy their books is always incredibly special and so appreciated, but if at all possible, it's helpful to buy them the day or the week of the release if you can. Publishers look closely at those numbers and they can often get an author on a bestseller's list. Always a good thing!

Okay, plug for two of my favorites is over. Are there others you're looking forward to? If so, give us a heads-up!

Now, tell us what you read and maybe what you're reading this week too. And don't forget to come back on Wednesday. We'll have some giveaways and talk characters for the 2011 trilogy. Can't wait to find out who you think the RETURN TO ME character starring in their own book will be!

I am on pins and needles waiting for Kay Hoopers newest Blood series book to come out at the end of the month. That is one book I am going to be haunting my mailbox for. Erica Spindler also has a new one comming out next month I believe...I can see a lot of book buying in the near future...With yours and all the other great authors getting their new year books in I can't wait.

Hey Sarah, thanks for the heads up on Kay Hooper and Erica Spindler! Both authors write wonderful thrillers!

Yes, I anticipate numerous bookstore visits in the next few months. Yay!

Hey Christy,
I will definitely be running out to get Stephanie Tyler's newest book tomorrow. There are also several other favorites of mine with great reads coming in the next few weeks - Lori Foster, Jill Shalvis, Beverly Barton, and Robyn Carr for starters. I'm glad you mentioned the importance to the authors of buying during that first week. I didn't know that. If I get the CHANCE, I will be getting all of these. Especially excited about 2/23! :)
Right now I'm re-reading Pamela Clare's I Team series in anticipation of her new one coming out this Spring. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes romantic suspense. Also read Mary Burton's I'm Watching You this past week. It's a few years old I think, but connected to her new book, so of course I had to start at the beginning!
Hope everyone has a great day. It's cool here, but the sun is shining!

Kara, thanks so much for adding more to my to buy list! Wow, some good ones coming. So excited!

On buying that first week. I don't think authors talk about it too much, because, as I said, we're just thrilled to have people buying our books! However, if you really like an author, it's enormously helpful to buy those first few days after the release. But if it's not possible, just buy when you can! (:

And I so agree on Pamela Clare. Cannot wait for her new one. She is an auto buy for me too!

Sunny here too, but very breezy and cool. Love that sunshine though!

Hi Everyone!

I've reread "Return to Me" and have my short list ready for Wednesday's "character" discussion.

Weekend reading included Anne Gracie's historical "Devil Riders" series. First books I've read by her and am really enjoying the light, easy reads . . . totally comfort.

Can't wait for Steph Tyler's latest SEAL book tomorrow! It's first up to be read this week.

See ya'll on Wednesday!

Hello,

I had a problem getting the blog to display this afternoon, too.

I have a bunch of books that I'm waiting for in the next month or so to come out (besides the new LCR trilogy).

Back in Black - Lori Foster
Slow Heat - Jill Shalvis
Naked Edge - Pamela Clare
A kiss to Kill - Nina Bruhns
Something about you - Julie James

This past week - I reread one of favorites "Return to Me" and I have my guess ready for the character discussion :-). I also started a historical for a change of pace - Sabrina Jeffries' The Truth about Lord Stoneville, which I'm liking so far.

Christy Reece said...

Mary, math was my absolute weakest subject, but I do believe you're right:

addicted readers=guaranteed sales

At least that's the way it is for me!

Christy Reece said...

Hey Oklanannie, thanks for the historical recommend! Sound like a good one. Another historical that you might try, if you haven't already is Tessa Dare. She had a trilogy come out late last summer, Goddess of the Hunt, was the first one. I have them all but haven't had a chance to read them. I've heard marvelous things about them. My mom gave them high marks. And man, my mom's a picky reader. If she says they're good, then they're REAL good! (:

Christy Reece said...

Hey Jennifer, glad you finally got on. Not sure what was going on with the blogger but hopefully it's fixed for good.

Great list of good books coming up too! And oh, I LOVE Sabrina Jeffries! I've seen discussions on her new book and it sounds wonderful.

Christy Reece said...

BTW, I love all those comments of, "I reread RETURN TO ME this weekend." Woohoo! Love to know that Noah and Samara are being revisited. LOL Even if someone referred to it as homework. (:

You'll get to see quite a bit of Noah in the new trilogy. And in LAST CHANCE, you'll see both of them a lot! (:

Can't wait to talk to you guys on Wednesday!

Mary G., I read Release by Beth Kery this weekend. I've never read any of her books before. My friend recommended her to me. The book was very hot and steamy.

Glad you enjoyed Release.
As Christy is unparalleled in Rom. Suspense, I feel that Beth Kery is the same with erotica. Everything she has written has been just amazing to me. I try to savor them but I can't put them down.I reread these beautifully written passages over & over and sigh deeply when I'm done. Then, to finish, I shake my head and wonder how she does it. You'll have to read the rest now.

Mary G said...

Forgot to ask. Is the contest about who answers first or do we email you the answer?

Jennifer D. said...

Christy -

I'm so happy to hear Noah will featured in the new books. He might just be my fave :-).

Off to watch Jack Bauer - my DVR is calling.

Jane said...

I'm looking forward to Stephanie Laurens' "The Elusive Bride" and Beverly Barton's "Dead by Midnight."

Christy Reece said...

Yay, Alexandra! Great recommendations!

And looks like Beth Kery is becoming a favorite to many! So cool.

Christy Reece said...

Ida, thanks for the list. Sorry you had trouble before. And if you come up with more, feel free to add.

Looks like there are lots of great books to look forward to this year.

Christy Reece said...

Mary, I'll probably get everyone to email me answers for a certain amount of time. For the ones who get it right, I'll put their names together and come up with a winner. Then I'll post the answer.

Since not everyone has had a CHANCE to read RETURN TO ME, we'll have a couple of other types of giveaways too.

Looking forward to it!

Christy Reece said...

Jennifer, Noah is one of my favorites too. It's been so interesting watching him evolve from RESCUE ME to LAST CHANCE. He's so much fun! (:

Christy Reece said...

Hey Jane! Great recommendations! Love Stephanie Laurens and Beverly Barton is a wonderful romantic suspense author.

Wow, is our list getting long or what?

Amber E. said...

Hi! I just finished reading Sabrina Jeffries "The Truth About Lord Stoneville" and loved it. I've never read her before, but I can't wait tell the next book is out of this series.

I can't wait tell Tuesday is finally here. There seems to be so many books coming out. I know I'm definitely looking forward to the next Stephanie Tyler and Robyn Carr books. I love books that are part of a series.

Kara C said...

Christy,
What about our other faves? Not that I don't love Noah because I truly, truly do, but will we also be hearing from the others in the new books?

Kara C said...

Oh, and I just finished Unlawful Contact - and cried. I've read the book before, knew what was coming, and how it would end and this time I cry? I've cried over more books in the past 6 months than I ever have. I think I'm being influenced by some of my book buddies! LOL

Mary G said...

Aw Kara, does the C stand for cute?
I used to feel silly when books affected me until I realized that it meant the author did their job.
If they can make you forget that its not real that's amazing and not all that common.

Christy Reece said...

Amber, I'm definitely going to have to get Sabrina Jeffries new book. Sounds great!

And yay that you love series! Tuesday's just a few hours away. (:

Christy Reece said...

Kara, yes. We'll talk about other characters and who you might get a glimpse and more of in the new trilogy. It'll be fun!

Christy Reece said...

Oh Kara, I think I cried at the end of Unlawful Contact too. LOL. Welcome to the tear drop club!

Christy Reece said...

Mary, I so agree. If an author can touch you and pull you in so completely, that you feel the emotions of the characters, then she has definitely done her job well. I love those kinds of books!

Jackie P said...

I have been reading Robyn Carr's book "Temptation Ridge". It is such a good book. Thanks to Kara and the others for recomending her.

I am looking forward to new books by Stephanie Tyler, Lora Leigh,Christine Warren, JR Ward, Nina Bruhns, and of course our Christy Reece! :) Especially, MARCH's release " Second Chance"! Christy Reece said...

Yay, Jackie! Another successful recommend. Love it!

Lots of great authors have books coming out this year. So awesome! And yes, I know you have a special place in your heart for SECOND CHANCE. You'll get to know Cole a little better in NO CHANCE before he gets his own story. I think you'll like him even more. I know I did! (:

Christy Reece said...

Hey Mama Gail, good to see you here again! Yes, lots of people here and everywhere are very anxious to read Hold on Tight. And now release Tuesday is finally here!
